✨Community-Led Sewing Repair Café🧵

Our Sewing Repair Café is becoming a much-loved part of the community, inspiring people to repair, reuse, and give new life to their textiles instead of discarding them.

A special thank you to our wonderful Afghan refugee women who have been running the café each month. Having rebuilt their lives in New Zealand after arriving from challenging circumstances in Afghanistan four years ago, they bring incredible warmth, generosity, and expertise to every session.

Together, we're reducing waste, celebrating sustainability, and strengthening community.💚♻️

More than just a place to mend clothing, the café is a space where people share stories, build connections, and learn valuable skills that support more sustainable living.

Discover the wild world of unusual materials making unusual marks. We will start the day to train our maker's eye while walking the Domain on the lookout for potential ink-making-materials.

To celebrate, we’re running NZSL workshops throughout the month, come along and give it a go!

Do you have clothes or fabrics in need of a little love? Bring them along to our Sewing Repair Café during the Parnell Farmers’ Market, held in the Parnell Room!

This skilled team of refugee women will be offering cost effective clothing repairs and simple alterations. Observe and learn, watch the sustainable repair happen, everyone is welcome.
