Dear Peace Lovers,
Peacebuilding initiatives rarely fail due to lack of commitment or ideas.
They struggle when sustainable funding systems are weak.
This insight shaped the Peace Lovers Connect (PLC): A Special Training Edition, convened by Peace Education and Practice Network -PEPNET in our office in Abuja on 21st January 2026, focused on practical fundraising and resource mobilisation for sustainable peacebuilding.
Moderated by Jonathan Saba and Philipi Adamu, the session convened civil society practitioners and peace leaders for a practical discussion on effective fundraising. Facilitated by Rafiu Adeniran Lawal, Executive Director of Building Blocks for Peace Foundation and Regional Coordinator, GPPAC West Africa, it examined donor relationship management, organisational credibility, accountability, realistic planning, and the development of evidence based, donor aligned proposals.
A key highlight was an interactive interview led by Amb. Moses ABOLADE, Executive Director of PEPNET, offering insights into the facilitator’s professional journey, field-based lessons, and practical reflections on building resilient and sustainable peacebuilding institutions. The session added a strong leadership perspective that resonated with participants.
The session also benefited from a robust question and answer segment which feature Anthonia Folashade Lawal, the Communications Manager of Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, with PEPNET Full Members (WAZIEH OFFUH, Chizoba Kemakolam present) and other participants present (Oyebanbughi Esther Inyang, Joy Obadiah, Anthony Obodokwe… among others) sharing practical challenges from their organisations.
Feedback from the training reflected renewed clarity, motivation, and confidence to approach fundraising more strategically and ethically.
The programme concluded with a brief birthday celebration in honour of Amb. Moses ABOLADE, recognising his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to advancing peace education and practice, and reflecting PEPNET’s culture of community, appreciation, and shared purpose.
At Peace Education and Practice Network (PEPNET), our focus remains clear: strengthening the systems that sustain peace work, not just the projects that showcase it.
