WEDNESDAY DEBATE

Is Nigerian society truly becoming more inclusive, or is it all talk?
We see policies being made. We hear speeches about inclusion. But when a person with a disability walks into a school, a hospital, a workplace, or a government office, does she truly belong there? Are they welcomed, supported, and given equal access?
Inclusion is not measured by promises. It is measured by opportunities, access, and equal participation for everyone.

At Ability Plus Initiative, we work every day to make inclusion a reality, not just a conversation. But we cannot do it alone. We need YOUR voice.
So tell us honestly: is Nigeria making real progress for persons with disabilities, or are we still just talking about it?

Drop YES or NO in the comments and tell us WHY. Share this post and tag someone who needs to see this conversation. Your voice matters, and it has the power to shape a more inclusive Nigeria.

Happy Sign Language Friday!

Every sign tells a story, every gesture builds understanding, and every effort to communicate creates a more inclusive world.

At Ability Plus Initiative, we believe that communication is a right, not a privilege. Learning sign language helps break barriers, promote inclusion, and create opportunities for everyone, especially persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Today, we celebrate the beauty of sign language and the incredible individuals who use it every day to connect, learn, and thrive.

Have you ever learned a sign language word or phrase? Share your experience in the comments.

Help us spread inclusion. Like, share, and tag someone who should learn sign language. Together, we can build a society where everyone is heard, understood, and valued.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU FROM ABILITY PLUS INITIATIVE

With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the successful conclusion of our Children's Day Outreach 2026 themed "Inclusion for Every Child."

We sincerely appreciate the management, principals, headmasters, teachers, and students of the School for the Deaf, Akure, Ondo State, and Wesley School for the Hearing Impaired, Lagos 1 and Lagos 2, for opening your doors and partnering with us to create memorable experiences for the children. Your support, cooperation, and commitment to inclusive education made this outreach a remarkable success.

We extend our profound appreciation to our collaborating partner, Kerry Okoh Foundation, whose support and shared vision helped bring this project to life. Together, we demonstrated that every child deserves to be seen, valued, included, and empowered.

To our dedicated volunteers, supporters, donors, and the entire Ability Plus Initiative team, thank you for your time, energy, resources, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. Your contributions brought smiles, hope, confidence, and inspiration to hundreds of children.

As we conclude this phase of the project, we remain committed to expanding our impact. We look forward to reaching more children across Ondo State, Ekiti State, and other parts of Nigeria through future inclusion-focused programs that build confidence, promote equal opportunities, and empower children with disabilities to realize their full potential.

We invite organizations, individuals, and corporate bodies to partner with us as sponsors and supporters in our upcoming outreach programs. Together, we can create a more inclusive society where every child belongs and every ability is celebrated.

Thank you for believing in our mission.

Today, we celebrate Democracy Day and the values that unite us as a nation, equality, participation, inclusion, and opportunity for all.

At Ability Plus Initiative, we believe that true democracy means ensuring that every voice is heard, including the voices of persons with disabilities. An inclusive society is one where everyone has the opportunity to learn, contribute, and thrive regardless of ability.

As we commemorate this important day, let us continue to promote accessibility, break barriers, and create communities where every individual is valued and included.

Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria.

Together, we can build a more inclusive nation for all.

It's Wednesday Debate at Ability Plus Initiative.

Today, we're discussing a question that affects inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities for persons with hearing disabilities.

Should every school in Nigeria be required to teach basic sign language to all students?

Learning sign language can help bridge communication gaps, create more inclusive environments, and ensure that no child is left behind. But some believe schools already have too many subjects to teach.

What do you think?

Comment with:
A - Yes
or
B - No

Then tell us why.

Let's learn from one another and build a more inclusive society together.
Drop your answer in the comments and tag a friend to join the conversation. Don't forget to follow Ability Plus Initiative for more discussions on disability inclusion, accessibility, and community development.

Every person has value.
Every voice deserves to be heard.
Every dream deserves a chance.

Disability does not define potential. With inclusion, support, and opportunity, lives can be transformed, and communities can thrive.

As we begin a new week, let us choose kindness over judgment, accessibility over barriers, and inclusion over exclusion.

Together, we can create a society where everyone belongs, and everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Have a purposeful and impactful week ahead.
