The Haemophilia Association of Mauritius is dedicated to improving the quality of life of persons living with haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders in Mauritius. Access to treatment is perhaps the biggest challenge facing the majority of people with haemophilia throughout the world. Only 25 per cent of those living with haemophilia are receiving adequate care. In Mauritius, adequate h

aemophilia treatment is rare and there is little infrastructure surrounding this life-threatening condition. The association strives to ensure that one day treatment for all people with bleeding disorders in Mauritius will be freely available.

Proud moment for Mauritius 🇲🇺

The Haemophilia Association of Mauritius (HAM) is honoured to share that Mauritius was invited once again to contribute as speakers at the World Federation of Hemophilia Congress 2026, Kuala Lumpur 🇲🇾

This reflects the dedication and progress of our local community in advancing care, advocacy, and support for people living with bleeding disorders. Being able to share our experiences, knowledge, practices, challenges, and achievements on a global platform was both a privilege and a responsibility.

We hope our contribution adds value to the global conversation and we remain committed to continuing this work back home for the benefit of our patients and community.

Over the course of the congress, our delegates engaged in meaningful discussions, shared experiences, and gained valuable insights alongside the global bleeding disorders community. Mauritius has joined the global bleeding disorders community 🌎🔴

World Haemophilia Day, April 17th, we stand with the worldwide movement led by the World Hemophilia Federation (WFH). In a powerful show of support, the Municipal Council of Curepipe lit up in red to raise awareness about bleeding disorders and the importance of care, education, and advocacy.

Together, we shine a light, raise our voices, and strengthen a global community.

World Patient Safety Day is an opportunity to raise public awareness, foster collaboration between stakeholders and mobilize global action to improve patient safety.

This year, the theme is “Safe care for every newborn and every child”, with the slogan “Patient safety from the start!”, recognizing the vulnerability of this age group to risks and harm caused by unsafe care.

WHO calls for urgent action to eliminate avoidable harm in paediatric and newborn care, building on the efforts of previous campaigns on ‘safe childbirth’, ‘prioritizing patient safety’, ‘health worker safety’, ‘medication safety’, ‘patient and family engagement’ and ‘diagnostic safety’. World Patient Safety Day 2025 aims to drive meaningful improvements and reaffirm every child's right to safe and quality care.

We are excited to share a video highlighting the transformative impact of Emicizumab (hemlibra) on the lives of pediatric patients in Mauritius. This groundbreaking treatment is not just changing health outcomes; it’s giving children the freedom to play, attend school, and live without the constant fear of bleeding episodes.Join us in raising public awareness about the incredible benefits of Emicizumab. Together, we can advocate for access to this life-changing therapy, ensuring that every child with hemophilia A has the opportunity for a healthy and active life. Emicizumab
