Perhaps one the most breathtaking spots at Villa Frere was the Engagement Terrace whence one could enjoy an idyllic panorama with the beautiful parish church of St Joseph as a centre-piece overlooking a tranquil Msida Creek. Taken in 1929 who would have thought back then how radically this scene shall change over the next 100 years. Nevertheless both church and saint remain much-loved, having a close historic connection with Villa Frere, visually and spiritually
