IOM facilitated a series of trainings in Malta and Gozo for couriers and drivers registered on Bolt’s platform.

The sessions focused on supporting the integration of migrant workers by providing practical information on:
🔹 Workers’ rights and obligations in Malta
🔹 Available local support services
🔹 Managing stress and difficult situations at work

102 participants joined the trainings, creating valuable opportunities for dialogue and exchange. IOM also collected important feedback and insights on migrant workers’ rights, challenges faced in the sector, and industry standards.

A sincere thank you to all participants for the fruitful discussions and active engagement.

ℹ️ The trainings were organized within the framework of the project “Bridging the Gap - Integrating Migrants”, a partnership between IOM Malta and the Bolt Urban Fund.

🌍Last week, IOM Malta supported a young Somali man in fulfilling his long-awaited wish to return home to Mogadishu through the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program.
After a challenging journey to Europe, he expressed deep relief and gratitude at being able to travel back safely and with dignity. He shared his excitement about reuniting with his family and walking once again along the familiar shores of Liido Beach in Mogadishu, a place that evokes peace, childhood memories and the feeling of home🏖️
👉At IOM, supporting people in making informed decisions about their future, through accurate information, dignified assistance, and a focus on wellbeing, is at the heart of our work.

On 25 November, IOM Malta and Bolt held the first Advisory Group meeting for the joint initiative, “Bridging the Gap – Integrating Migrants.” 🌍

The project focuses on supporting better integration and upholding the rights of couriers and drivers registered on Bolt’s platform.

🗣️ The Advisory Group brings together different stakeholders to identify needs, address gaps, and help shape training for fleets and couriers and drivers; a practical example of a whole-of-society approach.

Many thanks to all participants for the open and constructive discussions. Every contribution is helping turn ideas into action. 🤝

Together, the potential of migration can be unlocked for the benefit of all.

👉Earlier this month, IOM Malta assisted a young man from North Africa in returning safely to his country of origin through our Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program.
He shared how deeply grateful he felt for the dedicated support provided throughout the process, from counselling and documentation to travel arrangements and reception upon arrival.
For him, the journey home was more than a flight: it was a chance to reunite with his family, regain stability and start planning his future🌍
IOM Malta remains committed to supporting migrants who wish to return home but lack the means to do so, ensuring that each person receives clear information, individualized assistance and rights-based support every step of the way.
