🗳️ Accessible voting is a fundamental democratic right for people.

Recently, the Malta Society of the Blind underscored that voter' secrecy is not protected for and people in Malta.

In a letter addressed to the Maltese Electoral Commission and the Maltese Government, they call for the following measures:

1. Allow visually impaired voters to be assisted by a trusted person of their own choice at the polling station.

2. Introduce this measure with appropriate safeguards to protect the integrity and secrecy of the vote.

3. Consult directly with organisations representing blind and visually impaired persons before finalising any electoral accessibility reforms.

4. Ensure that future elections in Malta fully respect the rights, dignity and independence of voters with disabilities.

❗️❗️Maltese children who are blind or with visual impairment have the right to exams and books in Braille❗️❗️

In Malta we have a situation where children are being encouraged NOT TO USE Braille in schools.

Authorities DO NOT WANT to do exams of children with visual impairment in BRAILLE even though there are very few blind students in our schools.

Persons who are blind or with visual impairment have been completely forgotten in this election.

Persons who are blind or with visual impairment should be given the right to vote in private as non-disabled persons!
