A delegation from MFPA attended the closing conference for SD4EU, an EU-funded project, which was held at EESC - European Economic and Social Committee, Brussels.

MFPA is proud to have partnered once again with the project leaders Confprofessioni on such an important topic: Gender Equality. We have moved forward but there is still a lot of work to be done and it is our duty, as representatives of professionals in Malta, to maintain communication with different policymakers and social partners to continue working for a Union of Equality.

🔎 Gender equality in EU policies: a “moving target”

Gender equality in the European Union is often presented as a settled and well-defined principle.
However, our Deliverable D2.1 – Report on the concept of gender equality in EU policies and law, developed within the project Social Dialogue for a Union of Equality (SD4EU) and led by Confprofessioni, shows why this is not the case.

📌 Key message
Gender equality in EU policies is not a fixed concept, but a moving target.

The analysis of EU law and public policies highlights that gender equality:
▪️ evolves alongside social change
▪️ responds to transformations in the labour market
▪️ is continuously shaped by political priorities and legal developments

Rather than a stable definition, gender equality emerges as a dynamic and evolving concept, reflecting changing understandings of work, care, rights and inequalities across policy areas and over time.

This perspective is central to the objectives of SD4EU, supporting more coherent, inclusive and future-oriented EU equality policies.
