The death has been announced of Andrew Falzon, a 46-year-old man diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 24.
His mother, Maria Falzon, described him as “a warrior in every sense,” who, despite his illness, never stopped trying to improve himself and help others.
Falzon graduated as a Physical Education teacher and was a passionate sportsman. However, in the early years of his career, the disease emerged, eventually forcing him to stop teaching.
He was among the first patients in Malta to undergo deep brain stimulation surgery, a seven-hour procedure involving two electrodes in the brain that function like a pacemaker. The operation gave him a new lease on life, enabling him to resume long walks, often in the countryside with his dog Aki.
Despite his struggles, Falzon chose to live his life in the best way possible. His courage and determination remain an inspiration for others facing similar challenges.
