A look back at Nurturing Hope in Times of Pain, the Karl Vella Foundation’s 2026 Annual Conference. 💛

On 25 September, professionals from across the psychosocial and healthcare fields came together to explore pain, resilience, relationships, healing and the different ways hope can be nurtured during some of life’s most difficult experiences.

Today, the Karl Vella Foundation is at the Psychology Career Expo 2026 at Campus Hub Piazza.

We’re here meeting psychology students, sharing more about KVF’s work with children, young people and families dealing with illness or loss, and speaking about opportunities to get involved with the Foundation.

Our Life Beyond Loss bereavement support groups will soon kick off, offering a safe, compassionate space for adults navigating the loss of a partner, a child, or a cherished loved one.
We are here to support you through your healing journey. ❤️

Following a number of requests, our Your Journey Abroad guides for patients and families travelling overseas for medical treatment are now available online.
Developed by the Karl Vella Foundation in collaboration with the Treatment Abroad Unit at Mater Dei Hospital, the guides bring together practical information, important contacts and available support to help patients and families prepare for treatment abroad.
They include information on travel preparation, documentation, accommodation, transport, healthcare and emergency contacts, reimbursement procedures, and the psychological and practical support available to patients and families before, during and after treatment.
We are grateful to the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector for the financial support that helped make this project a reality, and to the Ministry for Social Policy and the Family and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Health for their support of the initiative.
Our thanks also go to Sector Malta for their contribution to the design of the booklets.
