Memory of Waste

Every object has a story.
If we slow down long enough to truly see it, it begins to speak.

What some call waste, we choose to see as memory, possibility, and the beginning of something new.

That is the heart of our Memory of Waste Workshop.

Yesterday, together with an inspiring group of young women, we created a space where reflection met creativity. A space to observe with intention, listen with empathy, understand with knowledge, and create with purpose. Where every idea—whether bold, unexpected, or beautifully simple—was welcomed, valued, and brought to life.

Because waste is never the end.
It is the beginning of a new story.

A heartfelt thank you to Ecohive ECOHIVE Academy for believing in this journey and for being such an incredible partner.

And thank you to everyone who shared their curiosity, creativity, and energy with us. You made this experience truly unforgettable.

✨ Memory of Waste Workshop is more than a creative activity—it is an invitation to change the way we see the world.

Be the change. Turn plastic into value.

Are you ready? 🌊

Every piece of plastic left behind tells a story. Every piece removed creates the chance for a new one.

This July, together Zibel and MARE Foundation turned action into impact—proving that real change starts with people who choose to care.

Be the change. Cleaner beaches don’t happen by chance. They happen when we act, together.

Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and commitment to protecting our coastline. This is just the beginning.

Be the change, turn plastic into value!

Because when an island learns how to turn waste into value, it can become a model for regeneration across the Mediterranean and beyond.

For MARE, that place is Malta.

Malta sits at the center of the Mediterranean and it is uniquely positioned to become a model for regenerative innovation.

Its size allows ideas to move faster. Its location connects cultures, economies and ecosystems. Its challenges reflect those faced across the whole region.

For MARE Foundation, transformation starts here. . Malta is our home. And our starting point.

MARE is not just what we are called. It is what we believe in.

M — Malta. Our home and our starting point.
A — Action. Because transformation begins when intention moves into action.
R — Regeneration. A different way of thinking about waste, value and what comes next.
E — Education. Because every lasting change begins with understanding.

Four pillars. One vision. This is where transformation begins.

Save this post — come back to it. The more you understand MARE, the more you will see why it matters.

It all starts with intention.
But intention alone doesn’t transform.

Mare Foundation was created to bridge that gap —
between wanting to do good and generating real, measurable, verifiable impact.

What goes into the ocean doesn’t disappear.
It returns — as imbalance, excess, urgency.

We choose to intervene in this cycle.

Transforming waste into responsibility.
Data into awareness.
Actions into results.

This is not about recycling.
It’s about redefining the path of matter.

Welcome to Mare.
