💛 STEPS OF HOPE | Supporting mobility. Preserving dignity.

A walker can mean greater confidence, support with everyday movement and the possibility of more independence.

On 3 and 19 October 2026, Kingston Downtown Lions Club provided walkers to two community members in need, through this year’s Zone 4B walker initiative.

Behind these donations were two Lions who persisted in finding assistance, a Zone Chairperson who connected clubs with available walkers, and a community referral that helped us reach another person needing support. 🤝

Our commitment to mobility assistance began before this initiative. Last year, through a separate Club effort, we donated one wheelchair and a pair of crutches to help meet needs in our community.

We have two more walkers available for distribution. Know someone who needs one? Send our page a private message so we can discuss how we may assist.

Compassion in action. One person, one step at a time. 💙💛

Healthy eyes support brighter futures. 👁️💛

On 24 September and 8 October 2026, the Kingston Downtown Lions Club conducted vision screenings at Herrick Basic School, serving more than 80 children between the ages of 3 and 6, along with several teachers.

The screenings were conducted using our new Plusoptix vision-screening machine, funded by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). This child-friendly technology allows us to screen young children quickly and identify possible vision concerns that require further professional assessment.

Vision screening during early childhood matters because children may not recognise or communicate that they are having difficulty seeing. Undetected vision challenges can affect their learning, development and ability to participate confidently in everyday activities. Early screening creates an opportunity for timely referral and follow-up care.

As a result of our screenings, more than 20 children were referred for further evaluation; a powerful reminder of why access to early vision screening is so important.

Our second visit, held on 8 October, also marked World Sight Day, connecting our local service with the global call for accessible eye care.

We thank the administration and staff of Herrick Basic School, our dedicated Lions and everyone who helped make both screening days possible.

Clear vision. Brighter futures. Stronger communities.

🌍🍲 A FULL PLATE. A CARING HEART. A STRONGER COMMUNITY! 💛💚💙

Food is more than nourishment — it is dignity, compassion, hope, and a reminder that no one should have to face hunger alone. ❤️

For years, the Lions Club of Kingston Downtown has been showing up for individuals and families in our communities, sharing food, providing essential supplies, and extending a helping hand when it matters most. 🦁🤝🏽

Together, we can put food on tables, hope in hearts, and strength in our communities. 💛

👁️💙💛 LET’S PROVIDE HELP AND HOPE THROUGH VISION CARE!

Healthy Eyes. Brighter Futures. 🌟

Vision care is more than conducting an eye screening. It is about empowering individuals with knowledge, providing practical support, and ensuring that no one is left behind on the journey to better eye health.

As we observe Vision Awareness Month, Lions and Leos across District 60B are encouraged to take their vision service projects one step further!

✅ Personal Results Cards – Give participants meaningful information about their screening results.

✅ Eye Care Education – Provide simple, informative flyers that families can take home.

✅ Cleaning & Fitting Stations – Help individuals care for their eyeglasses.

✅ Referral Navigation – Connect those needing additional care with appropriate eye care professionals.

✅ Vision Champion Badges – Celebrate and encourage children to develop healthy eye care habits.

💡 The goal is not simply to screen eyes, but to create lasting impact!

Every screening is an opportunity to educate, empower, and transform lives. Small additions to our vision projects can make a tremendous difference in the communities we serve.

🦁 Lions and Leos of District 60B, let's make every vision project count!

Together, we can provide more than a service. We can provide HELP, HOPE, and a BRIGHTER FUTURE! 💙💛
