🚨 KINSHIP CIRCLE ACTION ALERT: NYC Could Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages!

On October 22, the New York City Council is expected to vote on Romanch’s Law, which would ban for-hire horse-drawn carriages beginning June 1, 2028.

The proposal follows the tragic death of 18-year-old tourist Romanch Mahajan in a crash involving a runaway horse in Central Park.

Horses shouldn’t have to navigate chaotic city streets and park trails, risk being spooked by traffic or loud noises, or endure inadequate living conditions.

Hurricane Isaias strengthened to a Category 3 storm this morning and is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast this evening, threatening parts of Mississippi, Alabama, and the western part of the
Florida Panhandle.

Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to become a hurricane by Friday. The National Hurricane Center has urged residents from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle to closely monitor forecasts and have hurricane plans in place.

According to the National Hurricane Center there is an 80% chance of a tropical depression or named storm forming within the next week over the Gulf of Mexico.

Additional unrelated heavy rain could trigger renewed flash flooding across parts of the Gulf Coast by the end of this week.

Remnants of Hurricane Polo are still moving across the central U.S. creating historic rainfall and flooding in some areas.

The Pacific has seen an unusually busy hurricane season, which experts have attributed to El Niño. However, this is the first time since 1914 that the Atlantic season has reached the end of September without producing a hurricane.

Hurricane season lasts until November 30 so it is important to stay alert and prepared. The Kinship Circle Disaster Watch Team will continue to watch developing storms.
