A quick update from ๐’๐šฬƒ๐จ ๐“๐จ๐ฆ๐žฬ, where three days of ๐’๐ž๐ž๐๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  to the ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ ๐๐š ๐…๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ฌ women group, as part of a ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ-๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐ž๐๐ฎ๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ, brought together learning, experimentation, womenโ€™s leadership, and a lot of energy and commitment!

We started by training ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ (๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ), introducing the ๐’๐ž๐ž๐๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ and exploring how science can be taught at school and at home using ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ, in fun and engaging ways, connected to local realities and environmental challenges.

These 3 trainers then passed on their knowledge to ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง with a workshop of ๐Ÿ’ ๐๐š๐ฒ๐ฌ: ๐Ÿ” ๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ and ๐Ÿ” ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ฅ๐จ๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ. A great example of how knowledge can be shared and multiplied locally!

An equally important part of the training focused on ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐งโ€™๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ: building confidence, practicing public speaking, and sharing inspiring stories of women making a difference in their communities. The women themselves were the protagonists, sharing personal experiences and messages for younger generations.

๐ŸŒฟ And we are already moving towards implementation! By the end of the environmental education training, the trainees had ๐๐ซ๐š๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ and tested the experiments. Over the ๐ง๐ž๐ฑ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ, they will finalize and deliver these lessons.

We are really looking forward to seeing them put their ideas into practice and bring science and environmental education to ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ข๐ซ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ!

๐–๐ž ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ๐ž ๐ญ๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ, ๐จ๐ง๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž! ๐ŸŒ

Recently, students from SeedScience Clubs in Ghana, Madagascar and Uganda took the virtual stage for the final event. For all of them, it was the very first time presenting online, and some did it in a language that isn't their own. ๐Ÿ‘

Every club is guided by a teacher who took part in our online course. What they bring to class is a way of teaching science with what's around them: recycled and salvaged materials, and a lot of imagination. ๐ŸŒฑ
At the end, a simple question from the organizers: do you prefer lessons in class or hands-on activities? Every country gave the same answer: ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด-๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ! ๐Ÿ™‹

It's 2019, in Tanzania. Joseph Laurent, a biology teacher, takes part in the first SeedScience training in the country, funded by the National Geographic Society.

Joseph acquires new skills in the training and applies them with his students.

Among them, at Gwata Secondary School, there is ๐€๐ง๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ณ๐ข๐š. She is curious, interested, and ๐ ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ฌ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐š๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง.

That wave breaking far from the beach? Itโ€™s not breaking at random, but telling you a story.
Slower at the bottom, faster at the top: the wave can't hold its shape, and it breaks. That imbalance is basically a map, if you know how to read it.

Science starts right here, training your eyes to notice the world around you and asking why. Thatโ€™s the heart of what we do at SeedScience. We train teachers to bring this exact approach into their classrooms. We work with them to turn everyday natural phenomena, a coastline, a shadow, a river, into hands-on experiments using simple, accessible materials.

When you teach students how to observe, you donโ€™t just teach them scienceโ€ฆ you give them a whole new way to see the world.
