Autism and Vocational skills

Helping children with autism develop work skills begins much earlier than vocational training.

From a young age, we teach children to thread beads, place beads on pegs, follow patterns, and complete a model by observing and sequencing each step. At first, these may seem like simple classroom activities, but they are building the foundation for meaningful work skills.

These activities help children:

• Develop sequencing and planning skills.
• Improve visual discrimination and pattern recognition.
• Strengthen attention, memory, and concentration.
• Enhance fine motor coordination.
• Learn to complete a task independently and accurately.

Over time, these seemingly small skills come together to form larger, functional abilities that are essential for vocational training and employment.

Through repeated exposure , they build adaptability, learn to manage fear, and develop the confidence to face new environments and challenges.

Adventure activities like these help nurture courage, self-belief, emotional regulation, skills that go far beyond the moment itself.

For Inssiya, this zip line was not just a ride—it was a brave step forward. She made the choice to try it with confidence. While she felt fear during the descent, she also experienced something equally important that she was safe, capable, and stronger than her fear.

Potter’s Wheel – Tactile Exploration & Sensitisation

For many children, touching wet clay or messy textures can feel uncomfortable at first. Potter’s wheel activities help in sensitisation by gradually introducing children to these textures in a safe, guided, and engaging way.

As they watch, touch, press, and shape the spinning clay, children slowly build comfort and confidence with messy play while exploring through their senses. This process supports both sensory acceptance and skill development.
