At The Baby Care Foundation (TBCF), we believe that every newborn deserves the best possible start to life. We are proud to announce the inauguration of the "Strengthened Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU)" at the Institute of Child Health Hospital, Kolkataβa significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving neonatal healthcare across India.
The inauguration was graced by "Deba Prasad Sarkar, Chief Operating Officer and Arit Kr. Das, Junior Administrative Officer", whose presence marked the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening critical care for newborns.
This upgraded SCBU has been established to provide better infrastructure and essential medical support for premature, low birth weight, and critically ill newborns. The facility is expected to benefit "more than 30 mothers and their newborn babies every day", ensuring they receive timely, safe, and quality neonatal care during the most crucial stage of life.
To strengthen the unit, TBCF has equipped the centre with:
β’ 2 Radiant Warmers
β’ 2 Multipara Monitors
β’ 4 Syringe Infusion Pumps
β’ 2 Oxygen Concentrators
β’ 2 Neonatal Resuscitation Kits
β’ 10 Mother Beds for Rooming-in
β’ 10 Bedside Lockers
β’ 3 Handwashing Stations
These additions will enhance the hospital's capacity to provide comprehensive neonatal care while creating a safer and more comfortable environment for both newborns and their mothers. From life-saving medical equipment to improved rooming-in facilities and infection prevention infrastructure, every resource has been thoughtfully provided to support better health outcomes.
At TBCF, we understand that investing in neonatal healthcare is an investment in the future. Through initiatives like this, we continue working towards reducing neonatal mortality, improving maternal and child health, and ensuring that quality healthcare reaches those who need it most.
