For This upcoming Independence Day, we handed the little ones something more powerful than a lecture on patriotism β€” a blank sheet of paper and a box of crayons.

And they showed us what freedom looks like through their eyes.

Some drew the tricolour flag standing tall against a bright blue sky. Some drew soldiers, some drew doves, some simply drew themselves β€” smiling, standing proud, holding the flag they've grown up singing about but are only just beginning to understand. Every stroke of saffron, white and green on that paper was its own quiet declaration: this is my country, and I belong to it.

Because independence isn't just a date in history for these children β€” it's the freedom to dream, to learn, to hold a crayon instead of a burden. It's the freedom to sit in a classroom and imagine a future.

Watching them proudly hold up their drawings eyes lit up with the simple joy of being seen and celebrated β€” that's the India we're building for, one child at a time.

At The Baby Care Foundation, we believe true independence begins with a well-fed, well-nurtured, well-loved childhood. Because a nation only rises as high as the children it lifts.

🌧️ "What if rain could stop a child from going to school?"

For children in rural Palghar, the monsoon can mean missed school days, wet books, and difficult journeys.

This season, TBCF stepped in with something simple β€” "umbrellas & stationery kits."β˜‚οΈπŸ“š

Because sometimes, a small intervention can protect a child’s biggest dream: "education."πŸ’™

At The Baby Care Foundation (TBCF), we believe that every newborn deserves the best possible start to life. We are proud to announce the inauguration of the "Strengthened Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU)" at the Institute of Child Health Hospital, Kolkataβ€”a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving neonatal healthcare across India.

The inauguration was graced by "Deba Prasad Sarkar, Chief Operating Officer and Arit Kr. Das, Junior Administrative Officer", whose presence marked the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening critical care for newborns.

This upgraded SCBU has been established to provide better infrastructure and essential medical support for premature, low birth weight, and critically ill newborns. The facility is expected to benefit "more than 30 mothers and their newborn babies every day", ensuring they receive timely, safe, and quality neonatal care during the most crucial stage of life.

To strengthen the unit, TBCF has equipped the centre with:

β€’ 2 Radiant Warmers
β€’ 2 Multipara Monitors
β€’ 4 Syringe Infusion Pumps
β€’ 2 Oxygen Concentrators
β€’ 2 Neonatal Resuscitation Kits
β€’ 10 Mother Beds for Rooming-in
β€’ 10 Bedside Lockers
β€’ 3 Handwashing Stations

These additions will enhance the hospital's capacity to provide comprehensive neonatal care while creating a safer and more comfortable environment for both newborns and their mothers. From life-saving medical equipment to improved rooming-in facilities and infection prevention infrastructure, every resource has been thoughtfully provided to support better health outcomes.

At TBCF, we understand that investing in neonatal healthcare is an investment in the future. Through initiatives like this, we continue working towards reducing neonatal mortality, improving maternal and child health, and ensuring that quality healthcare reaches those who need it most.
