A shared commitment to stronger public health systems across Odisha.

On 4 August 2026, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, Piramal Foundation and Tata Steel Foundation signed a three-year tripartite Memorandum of Understanding in Bhubaneswar.

The partnership was formalised in the presence of the Minister of Health and Family Welfare; the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare; the Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM); the Mission Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL), a Government of Odisha public sector undertaking; senior Health Department officials; and development partners.

Together, the partners will work across all 30 districts, reaching nearly 4.19 crore people. Piramal Foundation will support 14 districts, while Tata Steel Foundation will support 16.

The collaboration will focus on RMNCAH+N, tuberculosis and malaria by strengthening governance, institutional capabilities, data-driven decision-making and the quality of last-mile service delivery.

Piramal Foundation will leverage its expertise in working with public systems to identify systemic challenges, strengthen leadership and institutional capacity, and enable sustainable solutions at scale.

Guided by Sewa Bhaav, collaboration, inclusion and shared responsibility, the partnership seeks to enable lasting system transformation and better health outcomes across Odisha.

Safer newborn care begins with healthcare professionals who are equipped to act with skill, confidence and compassion.

Under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the National Patient Safety Secretariat, the National Neonatology Forum and Piramal Swasthya, the National Master Training on the Safe Newborn and Child Care Patient Safety Module was held at AIIMS Patna on 9–10 July 2026.

The programme brought together faculty members, nursing staff and allied healthcare professionals from 11+ medical colleges, two district hospitals (Sick Newborn Care Units) across Bihar and neighbouring states.

Through online learning, simulations and hands-on workstations, participants strengthened critical competencies in medication safety, infection prevention, respiratory and feeding safety, triage, stabilisation, Kangaroo Mother Care and family-centred care.

Mean assessment scores increased from 73.3% to 92.9%, with nearly 78% of participants achieving mastery scores of 90% or above.

The programme reflected Sewa Bhaav by strengthening those who serve at the frontline, enabling safer, more compassionate care for newborns and their families. It also demonstrated how capability building and personal transformation can help strengthen patient safety practices across public health institutions.

When women leaders understand their rights, recognise violence and know how to respond, they can help build safer and more inclusive communities.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in partnership with Piramal Foundation, has launched the “Freedom from Violence” facilitation module to build the capabilities of nearly 14.5 lakh Women Elected Representatives across Panchayats and Traditional Local Bodies in India.

Developed and curated by Piramal Foundation, the module strengthens legal awareness, understanding of gender-based violence and the ability of women representatives to guide survivors towards appropriate support systems.

Piramal Foundation also led the first National Training of Master Trainers and will support the programme’s cascade across states through State Institutes of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.

This is personal transformation enabling system transformation, as informed and confident women leaders help make local governance more gender-responsive.

Women’s safety is a collective responsibility.

More than 100 education leaders, government officials and educators came together at RSCERT, Udaipur, for an AI Orientation Programme under the Microsoft Elevate for Educators initiative.

Organised by RSCERT, Microsoft, Piramal Foundation and De Pedagogics, the programme also saw participation from representatives of SIEMAT, Samagra Shiksha Rajasthan, the Directorate of Secondary Education and DIETs from across the state.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, participants explored Generative AI, Responsible AI, digital competencies, Microsoft Copilot and practical ways to use technology for more engaging, inclusive and learner-centric teaching.

The initiative aims to build a cadre of 1 lakh future-ready government school educators and prepare 40,000+ students for an evolving world. By strengthening educators’ skills, confidence and capacity to lead change, it seeks to embed responsible, technology-enabled practices within the public education system.

Because when educators transform, classrooms and systems can transform with them.

Water security is not only about creating infrastructure. It is about enabling communities to manage their water resources, strengthening government capacity and building partnerships that can sustain progress over time.

At the Rajasthan Water Conclave 2026, Rishi Arora, Co-Lead, Piramal School of Leadership, Piramal Foundation, shared the Foundation’s community-led and systems-focused approach during the session, “Partnerships for Water Security: Unlocking the Potential of CSR and PPP”.

In partnership with the Watershed Development & Soil Conservation Department, Government of Rajasthan, and in support of A.T.E Chandra Foundation (ATECF), Piramal Foundation is helping rejuvenate water bodies, advance community-led water planning, and strengthen local water governance. Initiated in Ajmer, the programme has expanded to Jhunjhunu, Salumber, Barmer, and Baran, with the larger goal of enabling water-sufficient Gram Panchayats.

The Foundation is also building the capabilities of middle-level government officials in sustainable watershed management, while enabling greater convergence between government schemes, CSR and communities.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan appreciated the approach and recommended exploring convergence with MGNREGA for wider implementation across the state.

Together, these efforts are helping create a pathway towards water-sufficient Gram Panchayats and stronger water and climate resilience.

Meet Ms. Gayatri, Principal of AP Model School, Purovakonda (Anantapur District).

Before attending the School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), Ms. Gayatri followed a routine approach to managing her school. Despite her hard work, achieving the desired outcomes and building strong relationships with teachers, parents, and students was a struggle.

Through SLDP, everything changed:

When roads were cut off by the Assam floods, Sanjeevani Village Health Outreach Programme teams continued finding ways to reach communities in need.

Across Tinsukia and Sivasagar, Sanjeevani Village Health Outreach, a programme in partnership with the National Health Mission and the Government of Assam, organised relief camps and provided essential healthcare and medicines to flood-affected families. In Charaideo, team members, accompanied by the Community Health Officer, walked more than three kilometres to reach 348 No. Borahi Grant and conducted house-to-house health visits.

Their response reflects Sewa Bhaav in action: standing with communities during a crisis, complementing government relief efforts and ensuring that access challenges do not become barriers to care.
