Rivers are the lifelines of India’s forests.🌊🐅

But during peak summer, when seasonal streams retreat and interior water sources dry up, forest wildlife faces extreme dehydration and stress. ☀️

That’s where Project Aquarius by Earth Brigade Foundation steps in. 💧

By deploying solar-powered water pumps deep inside key tiger reserves and sanctuaries, we harness solar energy to continuously refill natural forest waterholes from sunrise to sunset—keeping wild animals hydrated, healthy, and safe inside their forest homes.

India is home to over 70% of the world’s Greater One-Horned Rhinos, with Kaziranga National Park acting as their ultimate stronghold. Decades of relentless protection brought this species back from the brink. But today, a new threat looms on the horizon.

The proposal to shrink Kaziranga’s Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) from 10 kilometers down to just 1 kilometer threatens to open critical buffer zones to luxury hotels and commercial development.

When the annual monsoon floods submerge Kaziranga, thousands of rhinos must migrate across corridors like Haldhibari and Panbari toward the safe highlands of Karbi Anglong. Blocking these ancient pathways with resorts doesn't just change a boundary, it cuts off their only escape route.

True conservation doesn't end at park borders. If we want to keep the Greater One-Horned Rhino safe for generations to come, we must protect their freedom to move.

Meet one of India’s most underrated and elusive forest dwellers: the Hog Badger! 🦡

Named for its distinctive, pig-like snout, this stocky nocturnal mammal plays a crucial role in our forest ecosystems. Using its powerful claws, it digs through the undergrowth for roots and insects, acting as a natural soil aerator.

In India, hog badgers are primarily found in the forests of the Northeast, as well as parts of the Terai region. Despite their importance, habitat loss and fragmentation pose quiet threats to their populations.

Explore three of Maharashtra's most ecologically vital wetlands, our officially designated Ramsar Sites of International Importance! 🌿🌊

From a prehistoric meteorite impact crater to vital urban mangrove hubs, these three sites form an essential network for global bird migration, coastal resilience, and biodiversity:

1. Lonar Lake:
The world's only hyper-velocity impact crater in basalt rock. Formed over 50,000 years ago, this unique saline soda lake supports a specialised ecosystem.
Key Wildlife: Grey langurs, chinkara gazelles, ruddy shelducks, northern shovellers, and flamingos.

Nandur Madhameshwar (Nashik):
Known as the "Bharatpur of Maharashtra," this sanctuary was created at the confluence of the Godavari and Kadwa rivers.
Key Wildlife: Eurasian spoonbills, glossy ibises, common cranes, golden jackals, wild boars, and leopards (among 265+ bird species).

3. Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary (TCFS, Mumbai):
A critical urban wetland situated directly along the Central Asian Flyway of the Asia-Pacific Global Migratory Flyway. In 2022, BNHS teams recorded over 130,000 flamingos here alone.
Key Wildlife: Greater Flamingos, Lesser Flamingos, golden jackals, and over 167 avian species navigating the mangrove ecosystem.
