NMOPS Extends Warm Greetings on International Labour Day
Jammu, May 1: On the occasion of International Labour Day, the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) extended warm greetings to workers across the country and paid rich tributes to their invaluable contribution towards nation-building.
In a statement issued here today, NMOPS President Mr. M. Ashraf Sheikh said that Labour Day is not merely a celebration but a powerful reminder of the silent strength and relentless efforts of millions of workers who form the backbone of society. He remarked that behind every road, every building, every institution, and every essential service, there are countless hardworking individuals whose dedication and perseverance often go unnoticed.
Highlighting the importance of the day, he stated that workers from every sector play a vital role in the growth and development of the nation. Their sincerity, commitment, and resilience lay the foundation for a progressive and prosperous society. He emphasized that Labour Day symbolizes not only hard work but also the dignity and pride associated with labour.
The NMOPS President stressed the urgent need to safeguard the rights and welfare of workers. He urged the government and all stakeholders to ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, job security, and comprehensive social security measures for all sections of the workforce. He added that a just and equitable society can only be achieved when the rights of workers are protected and their contributions are duly recognized.
He further underscored the importance of unity and collective responsibility in uplifting the working class and called upon society to show greater respect for labour and value every contribution that strengthens the nation.
Reaffirming the commitment of NMOPS, Mr. Sheikh stated that the organization will continue to strongly advocate for the welfare and rights of employees, particularly the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme. He assured that NMOPS will remain steadfast in its mission to secure dignity, financial security, and a better future for employees.
Concluding his message, he expressed hope that the occasion of Labour Day would inspire renewed efforts towards building a more inclusive, fair, and compassionate society where every worker is respected and empowered.
