As Yom Kippur approaches, we’re reminded of the incredible gift of being given another chance.
Another chance to ask for forgiveness.
Another chance to make things right.
Another chance to start again.
We all come to Yom Kippur carrying the things we wish we had done differently, hoping for the opportunity to do better in the year ahead.
At Lema’an Achai, we see what another chance can mean for a family.
For one couple, financial hardship had put enormous pressure on their marriage. They were both working hard, raising their children, and trying to build a better future, but the weight of it all had become overwhelming.
With support from Lema’an Achai, they received couples therapy, financial counseling, and practical assistance for their family. By giving them some breathing room, we gave them the space to work on their marriage, care for their children, and begin moving forward together.
Because sometimes, another chance is all a family needs to change the course of their future.
This Yom Kippur, as we ask Hashem for another chance, may we also remember the power we have to give one to someone else.
