We are the 2nd Sligo Town Scout Group, founded in 1932. We currently have Beavers (6-8), Cubs (9-11), Scouts (12-15), Ventures (15-17) and Rovers (18-25).

The Cubs started straight into their Hillwalking badge by practicing their map skills. They were tasked with drawing their own maps, each with colours and symbols to highlight landmarks, locations or landscapes.

This year, our rovers went to Lincoln showgrounds for the poacher jamboree. They went alongside 10000 other people from across Ireland, the UK and Europe. This 9 day trip was a phenomenal experience and as such captures the essence of scouting for young people.

As we get closer to the Summer, our Group will be winding down and getting ready for the next Scout Year.

Beavers enjoyed the weather🌞

The Cubs had a fantastic hike at Knocknarea on May 10th when the sun was shining. Thankfully the weather forecast changed and it didn't rain 🙌🏻

Beavers were very excited to learn about safety around the fire and had a go on trying to start a camp fire by using magnesium rod

The Cubs had a 'jam packed' overnight on the 18th and 19th April. For some, it was their first time away from home so it was great to see them settle so well! Over the two days the Cubs spent a lot of time outside by the campfire and practiced their tent pitching skills (inside The Den).

They also made lovely strawberry jam and cooked their lunch directly on the fire the next day. Some Cubs practiced their blood circle when using a hatchet (supervised by one of our Rovers).
