The Cubs had a 'jam packed' overnight on the 18th and 19th April. For some, it was their first time away from home so it was great to see them settle so well! Over the two days the Cubs spent a lot of time outside by the campfire and practiced their tent pitching skills (inside The Den).

They also made lovely strawberry jam and cooked their lunch directly on the fire the next day. Some Cubs practiced their blood circle when using a hatchet (supervised by one of our Rovers).

On Friday 10th April, we hosted a very successful Awards Night for our Group Scouters, past and present. Our Yeats Scout County Commissioner, Charlene Woods, was in attendance and presented these awards. The recipients included:

⚜️ Joe Doherty - 60 Year Service Award
⚜️ Michael Barrett - 40 Year Service Award
⚜️ Róisín O'Connell - 10 Year Service Award
⚜️ Chris Kane - 5 Year Service Award
⚜️ Nina Perepecina - 5 Year Service Award
⚜️ Norah McLoughlin - 2 Year Service Award
⚜️ Lorraine Mc Guinness - Woodbadge Pin
⚜️ Diane Moran - Special Presentation for Service to the Group

We also invested two Scouters (who have been with us a few years), officially welcoming them to the Group and to the World of Scouting.

The function was well attended by County Officers, Group Scouters, Group Officers, Parents and Youth Members with the Sligo Scout Den proudly decorated with Group and Association flags. Images of the Group's activities over the years since 1932 were on display for all to enjoy.

A big congratulations to all who received an award and thank you for your time and commitment to the Group.

We would like to hear from adults interested in working with young people. No scout experience required, training will be provided.

This is a great opportunity for you to learn new skills, meet new people and be part of a community of like-minded people!

Volunteers must be over 18 and have a good grasp of the English language. Training is provided and Garda Vetting is required.

We have an active Rover section (18-25), so there's a chance for you to connect with other Rovers while sharing your skills with youth members as a Leader πŸ™‚

If you, or someone you know, might be interested either comment on this post, send us a message or email [email protected] to start the process. Don't forget to share so you help us to get the word out πŸ™ŒπŸ»
