Dementia: Understand Together is partnering with Boots Ireland to help get Ireland talking about dementia and brain health, and about the things we can all do to support people with dementia to stay connected and engaged in their communities.
On May 20th in the Carrick-on-Shannon shopping Centre at 6.30pm, Healthcare professionals and people affected by dementia will talk about dementia, community supports and the things we can do to look after our brain. You can register for the events here:

Boots has proudly partnered with the Dementia: Understand Together campaign since 2016, working to make our stores and communities more dementia inclusive through staff training and local events. As part of this partnership, we’re hosting a series of one-hour workshops in stores across t...

Roscommon Dementia Alliance committee members content after Aprils Memory Café.

We always like to get feedback and encourage the attendees to be involved in choosing activities that take place in the café. Attendees love the story telling by Margaret, chair exercises by Pauline and Denise. They always love the sing along with Bernie, Eamon and Brid. Many today at the café shared stories and memories of times gone. We all enjoyed the afternoon.

Thank you to Loughkey, Forest Park for their continued hospitality.

Thank you so much to Ella for sharing this beautiful poem inspired by her Grandma and their memories together. Ella said:

“My Grandma has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia (mixed dementia), which has understandably caused upset and heartache within the family. Experiencing this has inspired me to reflect on the emotions caused and realities that come with dementia for all affected, which led me to write this poem.

I am currently a student child nurse, and I am very passionate about healthcare, compassionate care, and promoting better lives and understanding for people and their families. Coming from a caring background has really shaped my desire to raise awareness and support others going through similar experiences.

I hope my poem might reach others who may resonate with it and help them feel comforted and less alone.”
