🛶 Kayaking at Lough Key Forest Park

It was great to see both our Adult Kayaking Programme and Teen Kayaking Taster Session take place at Lough Key Forest Park during August.

Across both programmes, participants had the opportunity to get out on the water, develop their kayaking skills and enjoy the fantastic surroundings of Lough Key.

Thank you to PMAC Kayaks for delivering the sessions and to everyone who took part! 👏

Best of luck, Cyrille!

Roscommon Sports Partnership would like to wish Oran’s Cyrille Bikoi the very best as he prepares to represent Ireland at the IPF World Junior Powerlifting Championships in South Africa.

The 21-year-old has made remarkable progress in the sport, having only taken up competitive powerlifting just over two years ago. Earlier this year, Cyrille claimed gold in the U-83kg class at the Junior Irish Nationals, earning the opportunity to compete against some of the best young powerlifters in the world.

A former student of Roscommon CBS, Cyrille has also represented Creggs in rugby and Oran/St. Croan’s in Gaelic football, before turning his focus to powerlifting.

Competing on the world stage and wearing the Irish colours is a fantastic achievement, and we wish Cyrille and his team every success in South Africa.

Best of luck from everyone at Roscommon Sports Partnership!

This is what being active in Roscommon can look like.

Learning to cycle for the first time. Trying lawn bowls. Meeting new people. Building confidence. Or simply finding a new way to get moving.

Earlier this summer, we captured some of the people taking part in our Lawn Bowls and Learn to Cycle programmes across County Roscommon.

They are two very different activities, but they reflect an important part of what we do at Roscommon Sports Partnership creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active, try something new and enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.

You don’t have to be an athlete. You don’t have to be experienced. Sometimes it just starts with giving something a go.

Keep an eye on our channels for more opportunities to get active across Roscommon.

Stand Up Paddleboarding at Lough Errit🛶

A great taster session on the water at Lough Errit, giving participants the opportunity to try stand up paddleboarding and experience a new outdoor activity.

Stand up paddleboarding is a great full-body activity that helps improve balance, coordination and core strength. It is also a low-impact form of exercise and a great way to enjoy the outdoors.
