Our extension will be completed around 10th July 2026 and will enable us to increase capacity for 2 to 3year old from 11 to 19 depending on approval from TUSLA Early Years Inspector. We need this approval in order to notify Parents who are waiting on places.
I sent a Change of Circumstances Application to TUSLA Early Years, however I received an email last Tuesday morning asking for further information which I have uploaded on TUSLA Portal. The only document I donβt have is Certificate of Compliance on Completion. Our Architect explained that this Certificate will not be completed until after the building is completed (which should be 10th July). The Final Compliance Certificate has to go through other channels ie Building Control before we get the Certificate. As I understand it my application will now be deleted as incomplete after 10th June and I will have to re-apply when we have the Certificate in July/August. My problem is the deadline for CIC Applications is 30th June 2026 so my new application will be after this deadline. Meaning it can't be guaranteed TUSLA will do the inspection before September/October. By the time I get the Certificate it will be nearly end of July early August which is passed the deadline.
We are asking that the TUSLA Inspection take place 10th July in order for us to allocate places to parents on our waiting list and allow us to do whatever extra the Inspector asks us to d before we re-open after summer break in August. I would have thought there would be a process where the inspection could be done and permission granted to open pending Building Compliance Cert uploaded on TUSLA Portal after the Deadline. Surely there is an option to put an applications on hold until final document is uploaded and sent. On the portal if I need to review my submitted applications going back to 2015 it is there to view, surly the same can apply here.
We know Parents are anxious and so are the staff. Until we get confirmation on the number of children TUSLA will allow we can not allocate places. We can not wait until Sept/Oct for this inspection to take place. Thanks to Damien Tiernan on Deise Today for highlighting this.
I have emailed TUSLA respectfully appealing for some leeway and consideration in this matter. We are the only full-daycare centre serving the wider area, including the entire Parish of Killea, Crooke and Faithlegg. I will keep you posted on any developments. Helen Millea Whitty
