A confident speaker can achieve great things in life. The best way to develop your confidence is through practice. Confidence is a part of the journey. it's a different skill to be able to persuade, impassion, entertain and educate. At Monaghan Toastmasters you will learn to speak with purpose, structure and persuasion. Everyone is welcome to visit. Meetings take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday

of every month at 8:30pm for 90 minutes. Our meetings are hybrid and take place in Monaghan Town at St Joseph's Pastoral Centre and on zoom. Message us for the zoom link

Each meeting has a packed agenda where all members have the opportunity to participate. The agenda includes prepared speeches, a poem, a fun and interactive Table Topics session to practice impromptu speaking and helpful feedback from fellow members. New members decide what area of public speaking and leadership they would like to focus on. They work with an experienced Toastmaster (mentor) to select the most appropriate Path from the Toastmasters International "Pathways" education program. Pathways guides members through a series of progressive, practical, interesting, interactive and fun projects and completion of the program and key milestones are recognised by Toastmasters International. We would love you to attend a meeting and let us know what you think! Send us a message or email [email protected] for more information.

What happens when you walk through the doors of a Toastmasters club for the first time?

For Lee Maguire, it started in Dundalk Toastmasters.

Watching the powerful speeches that evening, he set himself a goal: one day, he would win a speech contest like the speakers he witnessed that night.

A few years later, he did.

What he couldn't have known was that Toastmasters would become much more than a place to improve his speaking. It would become a tribe of friends, mentors, supporters, and cheerleaders.

In 2020, during lockdown, Lee founded Monaghan Toastmasters and became its first President. Today, he is on the verge of achieving the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award - an accolade earned by only around 1% of Toastmasters members.

Perhaps the greatest irony is that Lee has dyspraxia. His journey is proof that we don't have to be defined by labels. With the right support, encouragement, and determination, we can achieve far more than we imagine.

🎙️ Thank you, Lee, for sharing your inspiring story on the Irish Talkers Podcast. Listen here https://share.google/crswvs0PVh6yyYDE6

Our 5th anniversary wasn’t just a celebration - it was a reminder.

Of the people, the thoughtfulness, and the small moments that make this club so special. (And yes… the chocolate helped too 🍫)

Thank you, Michael, for the beautiful coasters.
