Shakespeare will come alive as you are lead through each scene at the Arboretum!

This July, the Arboretum at Fota House will provide the setting for a very different theatrical experience.
Presented by Cork Shakespearean Company, Shakespeare in the Gardens invites audiences to experience some of Shakespeare’s most memorable scenes within the landscape of the estate itself.
Taking place entirely within the Arboretum, this intimate promenade performance leads small groups through a series of carefully chosen locations, where theatre and landscape come together. From the Victorian Fernery to the approach to the Orangerie, each setting provides a distinctive backdrop for scenes drawn from Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Measure for Measure, and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
With no stage, no scenery, and no amplification, the gardens themselves become part of the performance, offering audiences an opportunity to experience both Shakespeare and Fota from a different perspective.
Performances take place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2026. Group numbers are limited, allowing audiences to move through the landscape as part of a small shared experience.
