Ballyduff Active Retirement Group was formed in 2001, with eight members. It was at that time, in the village when an applications was being made for Ballyduff to have a Family Resource centre, For many years, the group had no permanent home. As numbers grew,, first to 11, and shortly after, to 15, the first meeting place, was a room in a small house owned by the HSE, which was located in the cen
tre of the village. It soon became too small, and we moved to the kitchen of the Community Centre. When premises for the FRC had been purchased, we met there, for a time, but it was little more than an empty shop. When the building was closed, for the essential renovation and development, we moved again, this time to a room kindly made available to us by the GAA. Eventually the centre was finished, and we now enjoy superb facilities, for meetings, and refreshments, and access to computers. The group is now in its 16th year, and meets regularly once a week (except in January and August). Meetings begin at 2.00 pm, for a discussion of future events and activities, which is followed by a tea-break. Then, from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm, we have an organised activity, with either a visiting speaker or something organised by the members themselves. Holidays, and meals together, also figure in our annual programme. For further information, phone 066 - 7148103
