Our crew this morning were out and about in glorious sunshine, litter picking, weeding and hanging the last of our baskets and tubs.

Still plenty of work to be done over the next few days with a small bit of planting and a great deal of painting.

If you have a free hour and would like to help improve your town why not join us. WWE meet every Tuesday evening at 7pm and Sunday mornings at 9am by the Cork Rd bridge.

It was a great pleasure for some of our volunteers to meet the twinning town committee members from Mignaloux-Beauvoir at the Farmer’s Market this morning.

It’s hard to imagine that this relationship is going strong since 1998 almost 30 years soon.

🌿🇮🇪🇫🇷 Join Us at Midleton Farmers Market This Saturday! 🇫🇷🇮🇪🌿

Midleton Tidy Towns will be at the community stall in the Midleton Farmers Market this Saturday, and we’d love to meet you!

As a small group of dedicated volunteers, we’re working hard to help Midleton regain its award-winning status, and we’re always looking for new members and volunteers to get involved. Whether you can spare a little time or a lot, your support can make a real difference to our town.

This Saturday will be especially special as we celebrate the twinning of Midleton with Mignaloux-Beauvoir. Representatives from Mignaloux-Beauvoir will be visiting the market alongside members of Friends of Midleton & East Cork Municipal District Council.

Come along and enjoy:
🧑‍🌾 A showcase of our fantastic Farmers Market producers.
🤝 A chance to learn more about Midleton Tidy Towns and how you can get involved
🎉 A celebration of friendship between our two towns.

We hope you’ll stop by, say hello, and help us celebrate this special occasion. Together, we can continue to make Midleton a town to be proud of.

A great weekend’s work done by our volunteers. Graffiti was removed from signs by the train station, more flower baskets were hung at the monument and Distillery Rd, and Clonmult terrace.

Litter was picked from around the town, Mill Road, Cork Rd and Balick Rd.

A busy week ahead with the rest of our baskets going out tomorrow night, hopefully weather permitting the railing in Clonmult Terrace will get finished.

Watch out on our page of our next meet up and if you are able to help pop along. Everyone is welcome.

The judging period for the National Tidy Towns 2026 has started. This is an important time for our town and we need everyone’s help in making our town look its best.

If you see litter on your way please don’t walk over it, pick it up and pop it into a bin or take it home with you.

Why not add some floral decor to your premises in the form of hanging baskets or window boxes or some beautiful summer bedding to your garden.

Every little thing is a huge help in keeping our town looking beautiful.

Judging takes place for a numerous amount of categories
: community planning and involvement
:green space and landscape
: public places and streetscape
: nature and biodiversity
: sustainability
: residential areas
: approach roads and streets
: litter control and tidiness - this category is the highest marking so it’s very important.

We will continue to meet every Tuesday evening at 7pm and Sunday mornings at 9am throughout the summer.

Sometimes extra meet ups are essential and we will post these on our socials to let you know incase it suits you to help out.

Great nights work was achieved tonight. We were busy painting the railings in front of Clonmult Terrace. A big thank you to the local residents that came out to help us with this big task. Unfortunately we didn’t get them finished tonight but we got over half ways there.

The flower barrels down by the baby’s walk were varnished and also litter picks were carried out around the town.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered tonight, your help was greatly appreciated.

If you’d like to help and have a spare hour during the week, why not pop along to one of our meetings. We meet up every Tuesday at 7pm and Sunday at 9 am by the Cork Rd bridge.

There’s more to tidy towns then litter picking.

HELP NEEDED

Today starts the National tidy towns competition and unfortunately we have fallen a small bit behind on a few tasks.

So we are looking for some help.

If you can spare an hour or two and day or evening this week, we would greatly appreciate it.

We have two major tasks left to do this week:

1: painting of the railings on clonmult terrace. We will be painting there tomorrow (Tuesday) from approximately 6pm to 9pm. Paint brushes will be provided.

2: The clearing and planting of the beds in Pad Desmond Park on the youghal rd across from Scoil Bhride.

If you are available to help on any of these two projects just show up tomorrow night or pop us a message with your availability here

Tonight saw our first delivery of summer bedding plants so planting has begun at the top of the town and around the monument in preparation for the start of the National Tidy Towns competition on the 1st of June.

We will continue on Sunday morning planting up the flower beds on the roundabout and finishing off the planters.

If you are interested in helping us plant up these beds why not pop along Sunday morning at 9am.
