Eid-al-Adha is one of two main celebrations in Islam.☪️

Known as the Festival of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael after Allah/God came to him in a dream and commanded him to do so.

Allah/God intervened, sending a ram to be sacrificed in Ishmael's place, according to the Quran.

Coffee Morning in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research! ☕️

Learners with our Leaving Certificate Applied Class hosted a Coffee Morning in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research this past week at our Community Training Centre.

The coffee morning was part of a wider fundraising campaign with Jenya Kelly, a student on placement from the University of Limerick, running in this year's Vhi Women's Mini Marathon in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research.

Thank you to all who supported the coffee morning and well done to the LCA Class for organising the event and baking the delcious treats!

🖲 Virtual Reality Youth Work in Budapest🇭🇺

Young people from Limerick Youth Service & our Hungarian colleagues, Kezdj Velünk participated in an international Virtual Reality Youth Work Project in Budapest, Hungary.

As part of the project, the young people took in Virtual Reality (VR) workshops, facilitated by the Technological University of the Shannon and a Finnish organization with expertise in developing youth work activities within a VR youth space.

As part of the programme, the participants participated in ice breakers, took part in role play job interviews and created pieces of art expressing their perceptions of virtual reality... all in a virtual reality space!

The young people were members of the LYS WorkAbility: Inclusive Pathways to Employment Programme* that has been to the fore in developing the participation of young people in the virtual youth space.

*The WorkAbility Prog is co-funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Social Protection and, the European Union. For more: www.eufunds.ie
