It presents an unprecedented opportunity to examine our visual art systems in a new way – as an Ecology. Bringing together a diverse range of visual art stakeholders and experts, this conference aims to promote conversation and offer a starting point that can lead to a sustainable, healthy Visual Art Ecology in Limerick. The conference is organised by a core group from the Visual Art Pillar who ai
m to realise the full potential of a visual art community in Limerick. Speakers include, Hannah Clark (Bristol Biennial), artist Michelle Browne, writer John Holden, Francis McKee (Director CCA, Glasgow), Callum Lee (Director, BOP Consulting), Mike Fitzpatrick (Director Limerick European Capital of Culture 2020 Bid) and artist Fiona Reilly. The Visual Art Pillar has posed a question: What is the current/recent state (last 5-10 years) of the Visual Art Eco-System in Limerick and how can it develop towards a sustainable Visual Art Ecology (next 5-10years)? On their behalf John Holden, writer, speaker, and cultural commentator is currently researching this very question. All are invited to attend and contribute, from local business people and political public representatives, to artists and cultural practitioners and anyone who has an interest in the development and future of the visual art and cultural ecology in Limerick. Admission is free, booking essential. http://www.eventbrite.com/e/visual-art-ecology-limerick-conference-tickets-16829635894
