First day of Flavours Without Borders!

Delicious empanadas and ceviche, Salsa and Bachata, and our city coming together to celebrate the rich diversity of Limerick’s communities. ❤️

At a time when racism and division can make communities feel excluded and afraid, we choose to come together, to share food, dance, be curious about our differences and celebrate what we have in common.

Diversity makes us stronger, and there is always room at the table for everyone.

Cultural differences can sometimes be misunderstood. What may appear as disengagement, impoliteness or disinterest may simply reflect different cultural norms and communication styles.

At Doras’ Intercultural Awareness Training, we explore how culture can shape communication and workplace interactions, and share practical tools to help organisations foster more inclusive environments where everyone feels understood and valued.

Find out more about our training modules at 🔗doras.org/training or get in touch at ✉️[email protected] to make an enquiry.

Meet Doras – an Irish NGO based in Limerick City and one of the six partners in the H:OUSE Project.

Doras supports migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum through programmes focused on education, employment, health and wellbeing, immigration and residency, specialised victim support, and community sponsorship.

Community sponsorship is a community-led approach to welcoming and resettling refugee families. Doras has helped establish local sponsorship groups made up of regular people who come together and raise funds, secure housing, and support families as they settle into their new communities, helping them learn English, access healthcare, enrol children in school, find employment, and build new lives.

As a partner in the H:OUSE Project, Doras has shared its expertise in developing successful community sponsorship programmes, recruiting and supporting local group members, and strengthening community-led integration.

What a wonderful day we had exploring the Cliffs of Moher and Lahinch together!

Participants enjoyed the breathtaking views at the Cliffs of Moher before spending the afternoon in the seaside town of Lahinch, where there was time to relax, explore the beach, share a meal, and connect with one another.

Bringing people from diverse backgrounds together, the trip provided an opportunity to experience one of Ireland's most iconic landmarks while fostering new friendships, meaningful connections, and a sense of belonging within our community.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so memorable!
