Last night, at the Kildare Volunteer Awards 2026, we celebrated people who make a difference — often quietly, behind the scenes, and without expecting anything in return.
Eight award categories. Countless acts of kindness. So many stories worth telling!
Meet our amazing winners!
Junior Volunteer — Alyssa Reeves
Only in fourth class, already helping neighbours and baking for older people. Kindness has no age limit!
Volunteers of the Year — Paul & Majella McGrath
Delivering Christmas dinners for years, making sure people feel remembered and cared for.
Community Event — Newbridge St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee
Over 10 years of bringing people together, with around 20,000 joining the celebrations!
Community Volunteers — Mary & Fergal Gordon
Volunteering became such a big part of their lives that it’s hard to imagine a community event without them!
Voluntary Board — Kildare Traveller Action
Giving their time and expertise to support Traveller communities.
🦔 Non-Profit Organisation — Kildare Wildlife Rescue
Over 200 volunteers helping thousands of animals in need!
Pathfinder — Filsan Abokor
Less than a year in Ireland, and already making an incredible difference through volunteering!
Lifetime Achievement — Valerie Haugh, Leixlip Arch Club
Over 25 years of bringing friendship, joy and unforgettable experiences to others!
What a joy to see St. Brigid’s Cathedral filled with smiles, applause, proud families and people cheering each other on!
