Kildare Town Community First Responders A first responder is trained as a minimum in basic life support and the use of a defib, who attends an actual or potentially life-threatening emergency.

Registered charity no. 20205849 Community First Responders provide a vital support to their communities in primarily Heart Attack, Cardiac Arrest and Breathing Difficulties. They are able to provide Emergency Medical care for these types of incidents while awaiting the arrival of an Emergency Ambulance. They also provide support and reassurance to patients and their families following a medical emergency.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Child CPR and Choking Awareness Open Evening tonight.
It was fantastic to see so many parents, and community members taking the time to learn vital life-saving skills. We hope everyone left feeling more confident about what to do if a child is choking, unresponsive, or experiencing a medical emergency.
Special thanks to our volunteers for sharing their knowledge and helping make the evening such a success ❤️

Heat stroke (or sunstroke) is a life-threatening medical emergency where the body fails to regulate its temperature, causing it to rise dangerously high 40⁰
It requires immediate emergency medical attention.Critical Warning Signs
●High Body Temperature: Mental & Behavioral Changes: Confusion, agitation, slurred speech, delirium, or seizures.Altered Sweating: Skin feels hot, flushed, and is usually dry to the touch.
●Physical Distress: A rapid, strong pulse, fast/shallow breathing, throbbing headache, and nausea or vomiting.
●When to Call Emergency ServicesHeat stroke is always a severe emergency. If you or someone else is showing these symptoms, dial your local emergency number (such as 999 or 112) immediately.
●While waiting for medical help, take the following steps:Move the person to a cooler or air-conditioned environment.Apply cool, damp cloths or use ice packs on the neck, armpits, and groin.Fan the person to help their body temperature drop.Do not give the person fluids to drink, as they may vomit or choke.

Please nominate Kildare Town Community First Responders (Charity No. 20205849) to help us continue the voluntary work we do in our community. ❤️
A Community First Responder is trained, at a minimum, in Basic Life Support and the use of a defibrillator (AED), attending actual or potentially life-threatening emergencies in our area while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services.
As well as responding to emergencies, we have also supplied and continue to maintain Public Access AEDs throughout Kildare Town, helping to make lifesaving equipment available when every second counts.
Your nomination and support can help us continue this vital work for the people of Kildare Town.
