Carl goes to hospital 🏥

This was not a straightforward transport 🥴 poor Carl is SO frightened of the trailer and SO strong that we had to think outside the box to get him in calmly and safely ❤️ when neither food nor pig boards work, and you don’t want to let frustration dictate how things go, a hay bail can be a beautiful aid - as shown here 🥰🥰

Now we have a calm piggie ready for sedation and hopefully can work their magic on Carls nasty granulated wound that just refuses to heal, perform a biopsy, culture the infection and attempt a basket dressing to aid healing.

The cost of his treatment is estimated at €400. We would love your help to cover this cost 🙏🏼🙏🏼 this lovely big guy is such a softy he deserves to live a pain free life which unfortunately requires professional care, but we do need support to make this happen, so please if you can donate a little to help it would be so appreciated!

Alfreda makes some new friends 🥰🥰

Little Jayjay 💕

Yes she has a wonky foreleg, yes she needs special care and will need custom-made living quarters for winter to ensure she’s out of the mud but can still have an enriched life. But it just so happens that she’s got a family of pig worshippers planning for her future ❤️❤️

If anyone knows of a good lead for outdoor non slip matting that would provide cushioning we would love to hear from you!

HEART BREAKING 💔💔💔💔💔

A couple of nights ago, MLHR received a heartbreaking call about a dog lying alone in the the cold in Tallaght. It was around midnight, and he was absolutely terrified.

The team panicked, desperately trying to find someone who could get to him as quickly as possible. Thankfully, another wonderful rescuer stepped in and made sure this frightened little boy was safe, until they could get him, thank you Keith and friend ❤️
He had a slight injury, possibly from being clipped by a car, although we can’t be certain what happened to him. 💔💔💔
What we do know is that he was scared, vulnerable and desperately needed someone to help him💔💔💔💔
Thankfully, he is now safe at My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue, and our wonderful vet John has examined him. ❤️
But honestly… how can this keep happening? 💔😡
Animals should not be left lying terrified and cold on the side of the road, crying and begging for help. And once again, the rescue community is left picking up the pieces💔💔💔 Animsls need help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, no point thinking 9 to 5, five days a week is good enough 😡😡😡😡

Please, if you can, donate towards this little boy’s care. And please remember that he is just one of so many animals out there who need help right now💔💔💔
We cannot continue like this. It is heartbreaking💔💔

💕💕AVA💕💕

This small quiet girl is so happy despite being through so much. She was abandoned and taken in by a kind lady but she was so lonely. Ava was full of love and needed a companion. When she came to us she was spade laparoscopically (just the ovaries removed) and was matched up with a lovely boyfriend, Arthur. But her health declined and she struggled for a long time with our vets trying to get to the bottom of her illness. Eventually it was discovered that her uterus was full of painful polyps and infection. So she had to have another operation to remover her uterus. After her two operations she is back to being a happy little pig, pain free and safe.

She’s just one of 156 pigs we carefully mind like family. Sometimes needing several expensive visits to hospital to deal with complex issues. When we look at Ava today we don’t see all the worry, all the tests. We see a kind soul who is able to live pain free in a small pocket of the world where she’s recognised as a someone.

Every donation you make goes towards making lives better, and showing the world that pigs deserve so much more than they get in this world.

They ask for a good life. A life that’s worth living.

Isn’t this what all animals deserve? Why would pigs be any different 💔

Every pig that comes into our care is seen, heard and understood. We don’t just rescue them, we commit hard to their wellbeing.

Jayjay and her log: A love story.

Jayjay has yet to find that special someone to cosy up with at night time. It’s hard to find the right gentle soul who won’t shove her around and inadvertently hurt her by doing normal piggie behaviours 🥺

But at least her daytime buddy is a real hit!❤️

The new little family is just settling in before we introduce them properly to Alfreda. But she’s been singing outside there house all morning 🥹🥹

Turkeys are so much more, they’re somebodies, with feelings and lives they deserve to enjoy ❤️
