May 20th 2024 sponsored by The Grief Café was started by artist and facilitator Johanne Webb in September 2020 as a 3 month project, and has recently reopened in Éan bakery and restaurant, Druid Lane.

Originally conceived as part of the Irish Hospice Foundation’s Compassionate Culture Network, and supported by Creative Ireland and IHF, the café is now looking for sponsorship from local businesses looking to sponsor a much needed community space. There are various resources for visitors to use within the space, including a library of books, various art supplies and writing stations to journal. People are invited to come and paint a stone or a lantern to take away with them to commemorate loved ones. There are also facilitators present holding the space who are happy to sit and chat for those who simply want to talk about their grief or loss. A beautiful selection organic teas is supplied by local tea company Solaris as well as coffee and biscuits. We are very grateful to , teas, restaurant and Druid Theatre for their invaluable help in reopening. Many thanks for your support

Grief in the New Year can stir anxiety, sadness, and longing. These six mindful practices offer gentle support, practical tools, and compassionate connection through loss.

For many, December brings warmth, celebration, and togetherness.
But for others, especially those carrying grief, it can reopen wounds you thought had softened.
The empty chair.
The traditions that don’t feel the same.
The pressure to be joyful when your heart feels anything but.
Whether your loss is recent or years old, the holiday season can make grief feel heavier, sharper, and more overwhelming.
I wrote an informative article that really puts words to what this season can bring, the emotional intensity, the loneliness, the nervous system overload, and the quiet courage it takes just to get through each day.
If you or someone you support is finding December difficult, this article may help bring understanding, language, and gentleness to what you’re feeling.
