POC Ireland was honoured to be invited to the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations (Ireland’s national day) in Pakistan, where it was represented by Rana Usman Ajmal, along with team members Mr. Nasir Khan and Mr. Hamid Manzoor. It was a wonderful event that proudly showcased Irish culture and traditions.

Great credit goes to the Embassy of Ireland, especially Ambassador Mary O’Neill and Deputy Head of Mission Declan Johnston, along with their dedicated team, for organising such a beautiful occasion.

The Irish Embassy is playing an important role in strengthening relations between both countries, and we truly believe that once it becomes fully operational, it will create many opportunities for Ireland and Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia imposed a restriction setting the minimum age for Hajj pilgrims at 15 years, but the decision was withdrawn just a few hours later.
Under the new policy, it was decided that individuals under the age of 15 would not be allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. However, this restriction was reversed within a few hours.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued a statement regarding the new Saudi policy, stating that from 3 May 2026, pilgrims under the age of 15 would not be permitted to travel on Hajj flights.

The initial statement also said that after the implementation of this restriction, the Hajj visas of all pilgrims under 15 years of age would be considered cancelled.

According to the spokesperson, pilgrims who would not have completed the age of 15 by 27 May 2026 would not be eligible to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

The statement further added that the Saudi government had assured a full refund to all pilgrims affected by the new Hajj policy. Saudi immigration authorities had instructed all airports to stop pilgrims under 15 years of age from boarding Hajj flights at the airport.

However, a few hours later, another statement was issued by the PAA stating that Saudi Arabia had withdrawn the 15-year age restriction for Hajj.

The PAA clarified that permission for children aged 12 years and above to perform Hajj had been restored. The previous policy has been reinstated, and pilgrims aged 12 years or above have been declared eligible for Hajj.

According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, visas rejected under the 15-year restriction will be processed again.
