Malahide Chamber Children’s Art Competition – Entries Now Open
Malahide Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce that entries are now open for this year’s Children’s Art Competition, proudly supported by local businesses.
Open to all primary school students in the Malahide area, this year’s theme is “Malahide in 10 Years’ Time” — encouraging young artists to share their imagination and vision for the future of our community.
Entries should be submitted directly through participating local primary schools, with a closing date of 29th May.
The competition will be judged across three age categories:
Junior & Senior Infants
First, Second & Third Class
Fourth, Fifth & Sixth Class
There are fantastic prizes on offer, including vouchers for age group winners, special merit awards, and an overall Primary School winner who will receive an iPad along with their artwork professionally framed.
A selection of 40 shortlisted artworks will be exhibited in Malahide Library from 15th to 18th June, with winners announced at a special event in the library on 18th June at 6pm.
Meet the Judge – Susan Cairns
This year’s competition will be judged by local visual artist Susan Cairns (b. 1979, Dublin). Susan’s work focuses on capturing the character and beauty of everyday, often overlooked objects, transforming the ordinary into something unique and striking. https://susancairns.com/
Having spent many years working in drawing and watercolour, her current practice in oils has developed into a distinctive, detailed, and highly recognisable style. Light, colour, texture, and tone are central to her work, guiding each piece as it evolves.
Through her art, Susan aims to highlight the beauty in the unexpected, allowing simple, everyday objects to stand out and shine.
This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity in our community, and we encourage all young artists to get involved.
