Come along to the beautiful Farmleigh Ballroom where we will examine the rise and fall of the Big House in Ireland from the Anglo-Norman Invasion to the Protestant Ascendancy and through the upheavals of land wars, revolution and civil war.

More than just homes, the Big House symbolised power, privilege, and wealth while also embodying deep divisions and unrest.

We'll explore their elegant architecture, the skilled craftmen behind them, and the contrasting lives of the families and servants within.

By the 20th century, many Big Houses stood empty, burnt or repurposed, marking the end of an era. Yet their legacy still lingers in Ireland's landscape and memory.

The Gaiety School Of Acting is delighted to be part of a new project called Narrate-D Reimagining Libraries as Dementia-friendly Hubs Funded by Creative Europe, NARRATE-D aims to develop an innovative methodology, in order to transform libraries and bookshops into dementia-friendly cultural spaces that promote inclusion, well-being, and active participation. Through storytelling, literature-based & inclusive activities, cultural co-creation, and innovative approaches, the project seeks to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia and their caregivers, while fostering greater awareness and understanding within local communities.

We will be hosting an online launch event on the 21st of July and we would love to have you amongst the participants. The event will be the chance to understand the project's aims and objectives in greater detail, listen to experts on the subject of Dementia & Cultural Space and Intergenerational Connections through Storytelling, as well as network with colleagues across Europe.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead delivery of the Across These Islands – Shared Histories, Shared Futures programme, a landmark collaboration between the National Library of Ireland, the British Library, the National Library of Scotland and the National Library of Wales. This ambitious initiative will bring together four national institutions to explore and share the rich, interconnected histories of Ireland and the UK.

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a multi-year, cross-institutional programme spanning joint cultural programming, professional exchange and development, and collaborative research and policy initiatives. This role will oversee programme planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes across all strands.
