Seminar | Celebrating and Protecting Q***r Library Staff and Patrons
Naas Library & Cultural CentreNaas, Kildare
Thursday, June 4 โ€ข 10 AM - 1 PM

This seminar, hosted by the LAI's Rainbow Library Network, seeks to inform and provide tools to ALL library staff (Rainbow Library Network group membership is not required) for how to both celebrate q***r culture and implementing provisions to keep staff and patrons safe from far right aggression.

Faye Carrie will present on her, Pรกraic Kerrigan, and Claire McGuinness' work "Resisting Hate and Navigating Agitation", giving a data driven overview of the impact far right aggression and media have impacted on the q***r community. Anne Byrne, representing LGBT Ireland will provide insights into the work they are doing and concerns that get called in. Further, this talk will discuss what being an ally should look like. Importantly this talk will also take time to celebrate our community with q***r joy. This talk will incorporate interactive components to get attendees involved in conversation and reflection. Midlands LGBT Project will provide insights on what threats and opportunities local pride organisations encounter.

To reiterate, this seminar is open for ALL library workers. We would love to have q***r and ally librarians in attendance to continue working towards a kind and safe future for us all.
