Big PB for Jordan in Valencia!

Well done to Jordan Walsh on smashing his personal best in Valencia, running 71:34 for the Half Marathon. Absolutely brilliant running. He felt fantastic all the way until the last couple of km. Anyone who has been at the track in Craughwell knows how hard and consistently Jordan works and this is just rewards. He is the rock of the training group and is now able to run 21km at a faster pace than he could run 5km when he joined the club a few short years ago.

5th in Dublin for Jamie!!

There is no feeling more disappointing than putting in a savage block of marathon prep only to see a massive wind forecast for the big day! Jamie Fallon had another fantastic performance to smash the 2:20 barrier once again and finish 5th Irishman on the day, his best ever finish in the event. Times were down throughout the field and plenty of DNFs including the runaway leader who had to stop at 40km. Jamie's will have to wait another day to challenge his uncle Jimmy's PB but the popular Craughwell legend can be very proud of this performance in the conditions. Well done Jamie! 💪🤝🇳🇬

AUTUMN DELIGHT for William and David!

October means the Autumn Open Cross Country and William Fitzgerald came up just one second short of the win in a titanic battle with Tony McCambridge of Candour in a top-class field. Leading on the home straight, Will got out kicked and kicked back but hadn't enough to quite pass.

David Frazer had an exceptional run in the U20 6km race to come 15th, with three more years in the category.

There were lots of fantastic runs from the wider training group with four Juniors in the top 20 - Galway on the rise!!

Our athletes put in trojan efforts at the Irish Schools Combined Events finals which were held in Athlone yesterday. Lauren Kelly (St Raphaels) came closest to the podium with an exceptional series of performances across the 5 events to finish in 5th place with an outstanding PB score of 2845 pts in the U15 Girls grade. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Galway Cross Country Championships – Bushfield 🌿

A fantastic day for Craughwell AC with some brilliant individual and team performances!

🥇 U14 Girls – County Champions!
A superb team performance saw all five Craughwell girls finish inside the top 10, securing County Gold. Emma McGovern led the team home with a fantastic finish to take individual bronze, followed by Muireann Kelly (6th), Leah O’Toole (7th), Aoife O’Connell (8th) and Naoise Quinn (9th).

🥇 U18 Boys – Harry Barrett
A stunning debut from Harry, winning the U18 race by an impressive 4 minutes!

🥈 U12 Girls – Team Silver
Katie Considine (2nd), Elise Kerins (10th), Eabha Quinn (14th), Jessica Davoren (24th), Chloe Glennon (30th) and Lucy McGovern (31st).

🥉 U10 Boys – Team Bronze
Eoin Dempsey (6th), Daithi Colleran (8th), Alex McGovern (18th), Cian Monaghan (19th), Sean O’Leary (39th) and Luke Whiriskey (49th).

👏 U10 Girls finished 5th, with Lara McGovern (6th), Lauren Lydon (14th), Caoimhe Hall (22nd) and Mary Egan (58th).

Also competing were Billy O’Brien (14th) and Corman Kearney (31st) in the U12 boys, Tom Clarke (16th) and Paul Egan (19th) in the U14 boys, and Aisling Cosgrove, who finished 2nd in the U18 girls.

A brilliant day of racing and plenty to celebrate for Craughwell AC! 💚🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

OISIN SILVER in IUAA Cross Country!

Oisin Davis won 🥈 in the Intervarsity Cross Country for the second year in a row in a mighty battle. The main pack didn't recognize former national 10km record holder Tadhg Donnelly so let him get an early gap as he headed off alone. The gap got closed in the final lap but never enough to make the result in doubt. Oisin was in a chasing group of 6 which was eventually whittled down to Oisin and multiple eurocross and sub-4 miler Cathal O'Reilly of DCU. It looked like Oisin was going to settle for bronze but a strong rally at 200m to go was enough to catch and overtake the Kilkenny man. That is Oisins varsity cross career done most likely and a super end to a great competition for him.

A large group of athletes from the club took part in the Connacht Schools Combined Events at the weekend in Athlone with outstanding success across the 4 age groups with athletes from the club taking 10 of the 32 Connacht qualifying spots for the All-Irelands with 1 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze and 3 fourth-place finishes.
