William claims the Craughwell 10 2026 title!

Strong running from William on a very windy day to finish in 50:24. Jordan Walsh tried to hang with the talented former winner Abaas Edris but suffered when the wind hit hard on the back stretch and had to drop back for 56:34 for 3rd. Helena O'Keeffe had her first taste of the longer distances and wasn't too keen on it! She still managed to finish first lady and 12th overall in 66:58. Some other juvenile stars were there including Grainne Tuohy who ran 43:35 for 4th lady in the 10km. Excellent running all, the effort will serve well in the cross country season ahead!

What a performance from Mark and Rhasidat tonight! Such fantastic role models for all of our athletes young and not as young! Mark has been at the top of the sport for an incredible 23 years .... winning the National XC as a 10-yr old in 2003 https://www.athleticsireland.ie/wp-content/uploads/legacy/results/JUV_2003/U11B/03XCCIND.HTM .. and what an inspiration to see his dedication pay dividends like tonight. And Rhasidat is everyone's hero, such honest and open interviews and what a performance tonight after a tough 2 years. Incredibly talented athletes but their greatest talent of all is their dedication to be their best, an inspiration to us all!

Better late than never! All-Ireland medals are hard earned and it was great for these lads to finally receive the national medals they won as part of the Galway team at last year's National Cross Country in Derry from AAI HQ this evening.

The current Galway generation filling the podium of the streets are the best in decades and these new upcoming crop look like they could be just as good or better. Well done to the athletes and all the coaches and parents at all clubs to build such a squad.

They are coming for Gold this Autumn!

U18 medallists: Oisin Maher GCH, Rian Collins Athenry, Cathal Gallagher Craughwell, Declan O'Connell Craughwell, Luke Walsh South Galway, Sean Danker GCH.

U20 medallists: Mathys Bocquet Craughwell, Oisin Maher GCH, Rian Collins Athenry, Cathal Gallagher Craughwell, Declan O'Connell Craughwell, Luke Walsh South Galway

STREETS 2026! Fantastic results from the lads in the Streets of Galway with the lads winning the team prize with no less than three in the top 4. William Fitzgerald (23:39) was second AGAIN, his fourth time and Jamie Fallon was again 3rd (23:53), also his fourth time! They say consistency is key! Oisin Davis stepped up in distance and came 4th in 24:01 having been displaced from the podium by Jamie in the last km. Young David Frazer ran an exceptional 25:38 for 2nd Junior and rounded out the winning team ahead of a brilliant Ennis Track outfit. U17 David's time equalled the club junior record of Damian O'Boyle in the event.

Helena O'Keeffe was in the mix again with a fine 5th place finish, super run from her and hopefully she left enough in the tank for the 1500m for Galway tomorrow in the league.

International selection for Jamie!

Great news just in that Jamie Fallon has been selected for international duty in the Antrim Coast Half Marathon on 23rd August. The race is targeted on the performance pathway races for Athletics Ireland and Jamie was selected based on his excellent outings over the Marathon and half Marathon in the past year.

The last time Jamie made an international was in the Celtic Games cross country where he lined up beside Andrew Coscoran, Peter Lynch and Barry Keane!

Jamie will be in action this Saturday evening at the Streets of Galway.

RECORDS AND NEAR MISSES IN OORDEGEM

Belgium 2026. Waffles were eaten. Oisin Davis knocked the 1500m club Record down to 3:47.9. Jack Miskella cracked his seasons best again with a superb 3:50.

Willie took a major swing at the sub-14 5km. He had it on the ropes till he got wobbled in the last round! He will be back!

ran his longest ever 800m in lane 2, and nearly cracked 1:51.
