WE'RE SO BACK!

Return to form was the theme yesterday at Irishtown IMC as the lads all delivered strong performances despite the wet and windy conditions.

William Fitzgerald sporting a new "Fitzy" hairstyle made all the right moves in the 5000m. Will took to the front at half way and pressed the pace until 600m to run, for a fine 14:17 SB 4th, his 2nd fastest time and 9s off a PB.

Oisín Davis was making his track 5000m debut and hung well with the lead group until 4km when the loss of a few weeks training due to a ni**le in varsities showed. He rallied well to finish with 14:29 track PB (his road PB is 14:13).

Jordan Walsh was next in the B 5000m and he did exactly what he set out to achieve, running through 3km in 9:20 to finish with a massive PB of 15:35, a 20s PB.

Jack Miskella was next in the A 1500m and Jack took on the race for the field. The peleton passed him with 400m to go but he got a second wind and finished with a huge season's best of 3:52.96.

Last up for Craughwell was Kyle "Money" Moorhead in the A 800m. The conditions worsened for Kyles race. Kyle got stuck right in to the class field, getting out hard. His improving fitness started to show as he continued to run strongly through the vital last 200m and closed with a fine 1:52.40, his fastest time in a year and 3rd fastest ever.

Another super day of action at the Irish Schools Track & Field Championships in Tullamore with the performance of the day coming from Darragh Kelly (Clarin College Athenry) in the Senior Boys High Jump with a 1.89m leap for victory and the coveted Irish Schools High Jump Cup. It was an emotional rollercoaster for Darragh, under pressure at 1.83 which he got on his 3rd attempt and then cleared 1.86 and 1.89m on his first attempts to take the title.

It was a super day also for Lauren Kilduff (Gort CS) with double bronze medals in the Senior Girls 400m Hurdles in 60.40 and in the 100m Hurdles in 14.58 and for Rachel Warde (Clarin College) with silver in the Inter Girls 80m Hurdles in 11.54. David Frazer (Calasanctius) raced to a super bronze in the Inter Boys 1500m in 4:04.43 and Lauren Kelly (St Raphael's) wrapped up a great day with a brilliant bronze in the Minor Girls 75m Hurdles in 11.68.

There were many more fine performances from the club's athletes while representing their schools - full report here https://craughwellac.com/site/super-performance-at-irish-schools-track-field-finals/

Craughwell swelters for 5KM Series 2026

A MASSIVE turnout once again as the 5km Series finished up in Craughwell. The proceeds of this series help support juvenile athletics, and as is traditional the host club brought in a few guests from their Juvenile ranks.

Oisín Davis (15:04) won the race in a battle with Jamie Fallon (15:22). Despite the heat, both lads were well under the old course record and almost a minute clear of the 3rd placed Jordan Walsh (16:10) who finished excellently.

Club legend Damian O'Boyle, home from Alabama and well used to the heat was well up in 5th place, with Kyle Moorhead 6th.

Helena O'Keeffe was first Craughwell lady, making a full return to fitness in 18:41 (7th), followed by rising star Lillian Walsh in 19:42 (helped along by Jane Anne's pacing).

Well done to all and especially our own Colm McAllen who does such a brilliant role in organizing the whole thing. Set the reminder for when the tickets go on sale next year!

BRUSSELS Fireworks!

Great performances from our stars in the fantastic stadium in Brussels last Saturday. Lauren Kilduff smashed her own Club Record by running 1:00.07 in the Junior Women's 400m Hurdles. Emma O'Donovan ran an excellent 61.84 in the same event. She is wearing the colours of her Belgian club (where Emma's mum is from).

Sinead Treacy was back on track in the 400m, blazing to a Seasons best of 56.31.

William Fitzgerald took on the 5000m and was very happy with how he felt as he blazed to a Seasons best of 14:23. A strong run but based on the feeling, he is happy that the best is yet to come.
