Last Saturday, voluntary groups from across Ballyphehane came to attend the 2026 Ballyphehane Community & Voluntary Awards, held in our very own hall. Our voluntary board, amongst a wide and diverse range of voluntary groups, received recognition and celebration for their continued efforts to engender community, togetherness, and inclusion in Ballyphehane. Recognition and overwhelming gratitude extended across the spheres of social inclusion, engagement, community development, sports, music, culture, and heritage, all of which simply wouldn't thrive without the unwavering support and unfettered dedication of Ballyphehane's noble volunteers.
We extended Special Recognition awards to five exceptional members of our community: Pat Buckley, Maurice Dineen, Konrad Im, Mary O Brien, and the late John Kelleher. An enormous well done to everyone for your well-deserved Special Recognition accolades, and congratulations to all the 35 groups that received their voluntary and community awards.
Cork's own Shane Casey was a fantastic and dynamic MC for our evening of glitz and glamour - his wit, infectious energy, and charm was adored by all on the night.
Shout-out to the awards' organision committee for their hard work in bringing Ballyphehane's voluntary community together for a very special evening that will surely be remembered for years to come - including the Ballyphehane Community Association, Ballyphehane Togher CDP, Ballyphehane Tidy Towns, Cork City Council (community warden), Cork City Libraries (Tory Top Branch), and the Cork City Partnership.
Our most sincere gratitude is also extended to our incredible funders and sponsors, without whom the night would not have shone as brilliantly as it did.
