Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust for Nature

Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust for Nature Sathya Sai Sanctuary was founded in 1991 as a rest home for donkeys.

Set in beautiful surroundings in Sligo Ireland, our aim is to provide a place of refuge for elderly, neglected, abandoned or abused donkeys, plus small ponies, and a few mules & horses.

🐴 Private Rehoming Opportunity 🐴
We are currently looking for loving homes for four beautiful ponies:
• Bobby – 5 years old
• Blue – 5 years old
• Polly – 7 years old
• Ziggy – 2 years old
They are all very friendly ponies, but they haven’t had much handling yet, so they will need patient, understanding homes willing to give them the time and guidance they deserve.
If you feel you could offer any of these lovely ponies a safe and caring home, please get in touch with us — we’d love to hear from you. 💛
Please share to help us find them the perfect homes 🫏🫶

We are incredibly grateful to receive a generous donation of €2,062, raised through the “Road to Sam” competition in Riverstown.
Each year, the winner of this local competition chooses a charity to support, and for 2025, our sanctuary was deeply honoured to be selected. This year’s donation was made in loving memory of Kevin McDermott from Riverstown, who sadly passed away in 2025.
A heartfelt thank you to David McKeon, who runs the competition, for organising such a meaningful initiative, and to John McDermott, Kevin’s brother, who is pictured here.
Your kindness, community spirit, and support mean so much to us and the animals in our care 💚

🚨 The countdown is ON! 🚨
Less than 24 hours until we throw open the gates and welcome you all back to the sanctuary! 🎉🫏
The donkeys are buzzing with excitement — lots of happy brays, wiggly ears, and impatient hooves as they count down the minutes until they see all your lovely faces again! 💛
We’re back open every Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holiday from 10am–4pm, starting TOMORROW… and we can’t wait to kick off another amazing season with you all!
Planning a visit? Make sure to wrap up warm and bring your waterproofs 🌧️ — the weather might be a bit wild, but the donkeys will be bringing nothing but sunshine! ☀️
Who’s coming to say hello first?! 👀

***Private Rehoming Appeal -Urgent***

These lovely ladies are looking for new loving homes due to owner's circumstances changing and having to move away unexpectedly

Left to Right:

🩷Izaz - Chestnut 17 year old mare, approx 15hh, unbroken

🧡Aasifa - Flea bitten grey mare. Izaz's sister and very bonded to her. 15 years old and approx 15hh, unbroken

💜Poppy - Dark bay 14.2hh pony, broken but unridden for a long time. Poppy potentially has a home with the owner's neighbours but would need a temporary foster home while they wait for the sale of a piece of land to go through

💛Megan - Grey 23 year old mare, approx 14.2hh and unbroken

All have passports and are quiet, not prone to biting or kicking.

Also looking for homes for two gorgeous kitties:

💙George - 9 year old neutered ginger male. Used to living indoors with access to outdoors so would need a home in a quiet/rural area. Very affectionate and sedate, loves attention

🩵Ozzy - 9 month old tabby/white male,
currently unneutered. Ozzy was born feral so takes a little time to get comfortable with new people but very affectionate once he does and very clean indoors

Please contact us directly if you can find space in your heart (and your field/on your couch) for any of these lovely ladies or gentlemen. Their owner is devastated to part with them but homes need to be found for them as soon as possible due to difficult circumstances 💔

Two of our 'Oldies' - Yeats & Stanley - travelled to their new home in Mayo on Saturday, where they had the warmest welcome and met their new mini herd. We'll miss them and it was hard to let them go, but we know that they will thrive in a smaller setting with lots of human attention and interaction. All the best, boys!!

Ponies Boxy and Umachan are clearly settling right into the good life in their foster home — enjoying a very civilised afternoon tea together. ☕🐴
It’s moments like this that make us so happy. Seeing our animals relaxed, safe, and thriving in their homes means the world to us.
We absolutely love getting these little updates from their foster families — they remind us why we do what we do. Thank you for giving them such a lovely place to land. 💛
