Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Athlone Charity Organisation working for the community The Order of Malta Athlone Unit has been serving the Community for over 25 years.

The Order of Malta is a voluntary ambulance and first aid organisation. We provide first aid training, ambulance cover at events, community and nursing services. The Athlone Unit is divided into three sections. Our Cadets aged from 10 yrs to 16 yrs, our Youths aged from 16 yrs to 18 yrs and our Seniors from 18 yrs up. All these groups are extreamely active all year round. Our Cadets and Youths le

arn first aid, communications and basic nursing skills from an early age. We also encourage personal development through our achievement programmes where our young and energetic cadets and youths meet other from around the country. Locally you will see the unit providing Emergency Ambulance and First Aid cover at the Athlone Town Stadium, AIT Sports Arena, Tri Athlone, Kilbeggan Races, Music Festivals, Fundraising Walks & Cycles, Family Fun Days along with providing transport for elderly residents from local nursing homes as part of our Community Care Initiative

A busy week so far.
Wednesday was training night and thanks to Ciara for facilitating a night on drowning and hypothermia. Unfortunately the inclement weather didn't cooperate with the practical part.
Thursday and WB 26 and crew provided cover at the Shannonside Cycle event.
Thanks to Mark F, Brendan and Olivia.
Saturday and two events to cover.
Firstly WB 25 headed to cover a local football tournament in Kiltoom Athlone.
Thanks to Brendan, Edel and Daniel.
Secondly WB 26 provided Ambulance and Medical Cover at the Heartlands Pride event in Athlone.

A busy Bank Holiday Weekend so far for the Unit.
Saturday we provided Ambulance and Medical Cover for a 100km charity cycle.

Sunday and the day started with two members providing Medical Cover at the Athlone Connaught St Market.
