The current environment is an alien place, designed to un-nerve, threaten, assault and beat people emotionally into submission. Family Law proceedings in Ireland are known as “public” family law proceedings
since they involve the State,
in practice they are always heard in camera (in private). This is argued to protect the identity of the children, young people and parents involved. This results

in no written judgments available from the lower courts (district and circuit),
where most of these decisions are made,
contributing to an overall lack of transparency within the proceedings process. This leaves little room for consistency amongst the lower courts.
