Hong Kong Shark Foundation (HKSF) is a registered charity dedicated exclusively to shark conservation. As apex predators, sharks are a crucial part of the marine food chain. The demand for shark products has contributed to the rapid decline of many species, with several already nearing extinction. Removing sharks from our oceans will threaten the delicate balance of ecosystems that are valuable so

urces of food and key elements in regulating our climate. Every year, over 100 million sharks are caught worldwide for shark fins and other products, with over 50% of the world’s shark fin being traded through Hong Kong alone. HKSF believes this a rare opportunity for one city to make a significant impact on a global scale. Whale sharks are the BIGGEST fish in the sea (yes, fish! 😱) and we’d love to use the day to get more people talking about these amazing animals and why we need to protect them.

📱🎨 Want to get creative? Hong Kong Shark Foundation 香港護鯊會 is looking for Shark Ambassadors to make a fun IG Reel, video or poster to help spread the word!

🦈💙 HUGE thank you to Gini our HKSF Summer Intern!💙🦈

🌊🥤 We are incredibly proud of Gini, a Year 12 Hong Kong Shark Foundation 香港護鯊會 Summer Intern 2026 student from ESF Renaissance College Hong Kong (RCHK), and her friend Alyssia, who spent last weekend selling drinks, talking to the public about sharks and raising an amazing HK$3,232 for Hong Kong Shark Foundation! 🎉👏

🦈💙 Gini joined our HKSF Summer Internship because of her love of sharks and her desire to gain experience and meet new people. She admitted she was extremely nervous about doing something she had never done before, especially approaching strangers and public speaking.

💪🌟 But with determination and the support of her friend Alyssia, she pushed through those nerves and discovered something wonderful along the way.

💬🌊 “I was pleasantly surprised by how many strangers were willing to stop and have a conversation with me. I met many people who were extremely kind and passionate, and found individuals who were as enthusiastic about sharks and the environment as I was.”

👏💙 Despite facing plenty of rejections, Gini kept going and came away with an experience she says she will “remember the rest of my life.” 🌟

🙏🦈 Gini and Alyssia, THANK YOU! Thank you for stepping outside your comfort zones, speaking up for sharks and showing what young people can achieve when they turn their passion into action.

🌊🥤 我們為 Gini 感到無比自豪！她是來自香港英基學校協會（ESF）屬下啟新書院（RCHK）的 12 年級學生，也是香港護鯊會（HKSF）的暑期實習生。上週末，她與好友 Alyssia 一起透過義賣飲料和向公眾宣傳鯊魚保護知識，為香港護鯊會籌集了高達 3,232 港元的善款！ 🎉👏

🦈💙 Gini 之所以參加 HKSF 的暑期實習項目，是因為她熱愛鯊魚，並渴望累積經驗、結識新朋友。她坦言，對於嘗試從未做過的事情——尤其是主動接觸陌生人和公開演講——她起初感到非常緊張。

💪🌟 但憑藉著堅定的決心和好友 Alyssia 的支持，她克服了緊張情緒，並在過程中收穫了美好的體驗。

💙 Sharks are keystone apex predators, playing a vital role in maintaining the delicate balance of marine ecosystems. By keeping ocean food webs healthy, they help ensure our ocean remains resilient and productive. A healthy ocean is essential for all life on Earth—it produces over half of the oxygen we breathe, helps regulate our climate, and supports billions of people worldwide.

July 14 is Shark Awareness Day, and Hong Kong Shark Foundation 香港護鯊會 needs YOUR voice to help inspire others to protect sharks.

Would you be willing to record a 30-60 second video telling the world why sharks matter?

🦈🎨 Sharks + Art = Conservation in Action!

🌊 After learning about shark and ocean conservation from a Hong Kong Shark Foundation 香港護鯊會 talk last month, some keen Year 4 students at Kennedy School primary transformed what they learned into creative artwork through our Shark Art Challenge.

🎨 From protecting sharks to reducing consumption of shark fin and shark products, these talented 8–9-year-olds used art to share powerful conservation messages.

💙 The challenge encourages students to think critically, express their ideas creatively, and become advocates for sharks and the ocean.

👏 Check out this video showcasing some of their incredible artwork! Special thanks to the wonderful Y4 teachers Matt King and Colleen Osborne for their kindly orginizing this art fun challenge!

🌊 上個月，在聽取了「香港護鯊會」（Hong Kong Shark Foundation）關於鯊魚與海洋保育的講座後，來自肯尼迪學校（Kennedy School）小學部四年級的幾位熱心學生，透過我們的「鯊魚藝術挑戰」活動，將所學知識轉化為了充滿創意的藝術作品。

🎨 從保護鯊魚到減少魚翅及鯊魚製品的消費，這些才華橫溢的8至9歲孩子們用藝術傳遞了強有力的保育理念。

💙 這項挑戰旨在鼓勵學生進行批判性思考，發揮創意表達想法，並成為鯊魚與海洋的守護者。
