BACKGROUND
Welfare and Development Center, formerly known as the Gori Club for People with Disability, was founded in 2001 and registered as a non-profit NGO. It focuses on the issues and social problem
s of persons with disabilities (PWD) in the Shida Kartli Region of the country of Georgia and the cities of Gori, Kareli, Kaspi and Khashuri,and the surrounding towns and villages. The main office and the center is located in Gori, and also, there is a branch office and center located in Kareli. The organization has a well-developed organizational structure with a Chairperson, Program Director, Program Assistant/Public Relations, Financial Manager, Technical Manager, Psychologist, Specialists, Teachers, Cook and others assistants and staff. The highest decision making body setting strategic directions is the Council of Parents consisting of parents, teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists and other professionals, all affected by disability issues. The organization has strong partnerships and holds significant resources to successfully manage and implement projects, the main focus of which are involvement of PWD in the decision making process and advocacy of the rights of PWD for achieving their social inclusion and integration into society, through approaches in education, health care, employment, and also, based on gender and age, empowering women and youth, and mainstreaming child protection. The Welfare and Development Center runs child and youth day centers for three age groups, training centers, rehabilitation programs, vocational education training, employment education skills and training and volunteer clubs. Before 2008, the Welfare and Development Center had 647 disabled persons, with 170 disabled children and 477 disabled adults. Presently, there are 604 disabled adults and 280 disabled children, with 884 members in all, being served. VISION AND MISSION

კეთილდღეობის და განვითარების ცენტრი
ა.ი.პ. წარმოადგენს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე პირთა ნებაყოფლობით საწყისებზე შექმნილ გაერთიანებას შიდა ქართლში, ასოციაციის დამფუძნებლები არიან შშმ ეტლით მოსარგებლე პირები. მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ ორგანიზაციას შექმნისას არ გააჩნდა არანაირი მატერიალურ-ტექნიკური ბაზა, მან, როგორც მოტივირებულ პირთა ორგანიზაციამ, შეძლო განვითარება და ავტორიტეტის დამკვიდრება, როგორც ადგილობრივ, ასევე საერთაშორისო, სამთავრობო თუ არასამთავრობო სექტორში. თავისი მუშაობის მანძილზე ორგანიზაციას არ შეუცვლია სამიზნე ჯგუფი, მუშაობის პრიორიტეტები და აქვს განხორციელებული რიგი მნიშვნელოვანი პროექტები ამ სფეროში.
ორგანიზაციას აქვს გამართული ორგანიზაციული სტრუქტურა, ყავს პროფესიონალთა გუნდი და ეფექტურად მოღვაწეობს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე პირებთან, სოციალურად დაუცველ და დევნილ მოსახლეობასთან, ახალგაზრდებთან, ბავშვებთან და მათი ოჯახის წევრებთან . „კეთილდღეობისა და განვითარების“ ცენტრი ხელს უწყობს და აძლიერებს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე პირების საზოგადოებაში ინტეგრაციას, და მათი უფლებების დაცვას: შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობების მქონე პირებისათვის სრულფასოვანი ცხოვრებისა და საზოგადოებრივ საქმიანობაში მონაწილეობას. ახალგაზრდული მიმართულებით კი ორგანიზაციაში ჩამოყალიბებულია „გორის ახალგაზრდული ცნეტრი“, რომლიც მიზნად ისახავს სამოქალაქო აქტივიზმის კულტურის დანერგვასა და ახალგაზრდების საერთო კვალიფიკაციის ამაღლებას სამოქალაქო ჩართულობისა და მრავალფეროვნების მართვაში.
ორგანიზაციის მიზანი და ამოცანები
1. ხელი შეუწყოს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობების მქონე პირთა დამოუკიდებლობას, კეთილდღეობას და განვითარებას შიდა ქართლის რეგიონში.
2. ხელი შეუწყოს შშმ პირთა უფლებების გაცნობას და დაცვას შიდა ქართლის რეგიონში.
3. ორგანიზება გაუწიოს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობების მქონე მოზარდთა და ბავშვთა უფლებების დაცვას და მათ ინტეგრაციას საზოგადოებაში , მათ შორის ინკლუზიური განათლების გზით.
4. ხელი შეუწყოს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობების მქონე და სოციალურად დაუცველ ქალთა უფლებების დაცვას , განათლებას და გენდერულ თანასწორობას საზოგადოებაში.
5. ხელი შეუწყოს შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე, სოციალურად დაუცველ და ეთნიკური წარმომავლობის ახალგაზრდებში ჯანსაღი ცხოვრების წესის დამკვიდრებას .
6. ხელი შეუწყოს დღის ცენტრის სერვისების გაუმჯობესებას შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე ბავშვებისათვის შიდა ქართლის რეგიონში.
7. ხელი შეუწყოს ახალგაზრდების სამოქალაქო ჩართულობას და განათლების თანამედროვე პროგრამების ხელმისაწვდომობის გაზრდის უზრუნველყოფას.
8. ხელი შეუწყოს ეთნიკური უმცირესობების და სოციალურად დაუცველი ქალებისა და გოგნების მოტივაციისა და დაინტერესების გაზრდას განათლების პროცესს.
