YOUth MATTERs - Youth Club

YOUth MATTERs - Youth Club YOUth MATTERs is a community-led youth club based in Wymondham, Norfolk, offering a safe, welcoming space for teenagers to hang out, connect, and grow.

We’re more than just a club — we’re building a movement where young people can just be!

I’ve had such a productive day working behind the scenes on YOUth MATTERs! 🧡

I’ve started moving all our paperwork over to a new digital system, including membership forms, volunteer information, accident and incident reports, opening and closing checks, inductions and policy agreements.

It might not sound very exciting to everyone, but it’s a massive step forward for the Youth Club! It shows how much we’re growing and will make everything so much easier, safer and more organised — with far less paper too! 🙌

All memberships and volunteer information will be renewed when we return, so everything is completely up to date and stored safely.

If any parents would like to fill in their information already, or if there are any potential new volunteers interested in joining us, please let me know and I’ll send you the link.

I’m genuinely so excited to start using the new system and to see what the next year brings. I’ve got so many ideas, and I cannot wait for YOUth MATTERs to come back with a bang in September! 💥🧡

Good afternoon all,

I’m just going to put the feelers out and see if anyone in Wymondham or the surrounding area would like to join me next year in cycling the Rebellion Way.

I’m going to do it to raise money for my Youth Club, but anyone who joins can choose a charity or cause that means something to them. We could do what we did with the Wymondham Sports Bar fundraiser and split the money between all the chosen charities—or work out whatever suits everyone best. I’m completely open to ideas if anyone is genuinely serious about doing it!

I’ve never done anything like this before, and I’m fully aware that it would potentially mean cycling between 40 and 45 miles per day. However, I genuinely believe that I can do it—and I am going to do it! After taking part in the fundraising event with Wymondham Sports Bar, I realised how much I enjoyed it.

This won’t be happening until May or June next year, but it will soon come around! If anyone else is like me and gets a little bored or struggles with SAD during the winter, having something like this to work towards might help keep us focused.

If I don’t push myself to do something well outside my comfort zone, I’m never going to do it. And if I publicly say I’m doing something—especially for charity and my Youth Club—then I’m going to have to bloody do it! 😂

The Rebellion Way is around 232 miles through East Anglia, which we would complete over four to six days. We would potentially need to camp along the route, or I’m going to reach out to campsites and Airbnbs to see whether they might offer us a discounted rate, especially as it’s for charity.

So… does anyone fancy taking on a challenge for some good causes? Don’t all rush at once! 😂🚲💪🏼🧡

I’ve finally been down to collect the money raised at the Wymondham Sports Bar fundraising event and… £1,500!! 🤯💛

Honestly, what an incredible amount. I can’t put into words how grateful we are for this donation and for everyone who played a part in raising it.

For YOUth MATTERs, £1,500 is HUGE. It gives us a real sense of security going forward and, most importantly, means we can continue investing in our young people, giving them opportunities, experiences and a safe place in their community. 🧡

To everyone at Wymondham Sports Bar — you have an absolutely incredible team. The support you show our community, and the support the community gives you in return, speaks volumes about the kind of people you are.

You’ve massively inspired me with what can happen when local people and organisations come together for a common goal. 💛

And I genuinely can’t wait to see what we can do next. I’d LOVE for us to collectively create more brilliant fundraising events and help even more local organisations and charities.

£1,500 for YOUth MATTERs. Absolutely incredible. 🥹

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! ❤️

This is what community is all about. 🙌

Wowzers 🙌🏼🧡

Wowzers 🙌🏼🧡

What an incredible day and what an incredible community.

We are so proud to announce that together we raised an amazing £8,350 for our five chosen charities. Every mile walked, cycled and run, every raffle ticket bought, every donation made and every bit of support has helped make a real difference.

A huge thank you to Leigh Smith for her continued commitment and dedication to organising our raffle for the third year running. Once again, she absolutely smashed it, helping us achieve a record-breaking raffle total!

A big thank you also to Hannah Isabella Fordham for running the tombola, and to Paul Kenny Sparkes for everything he did behind the scenes to help make the day such a success.

A special thank you to Britannia Fire Ltd for their generous sponsorship and their continued support of our annual charity event.

Another special thank you goes to Zoe Niccolle, Jonathan Wickham, and every single member of staff at Wymondham Sports Bar. Your hard work before, during and after the event never goes unnoticed.

Finally, to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, local business, donor and supporter, and to our amazing community, thank you. This event simply wouldn’t happen without you.

And to our five incredible charities, we hope this donation makes a real difference. Thank you for everything you do.

£8,350 raised. One community. Five amazing causes. Together, we made a difference. ❤️

Final Youth Club of the school year done. 🧡

I’ve been so emotional this week. Not in a bad way, just feeling a little overwhelmed with everything. Tonight reminded me that I’m okay. I’m ready for the milestones my own family are facing, and I’m so incredibly proud that we’ve made it through our first full school year of the Youth Club. 💚

The right people have come along. I’ve somehow ended up with the most incredible group of volunteers from all different backgrounds and ages, yet we all just click. It’s such a lovely feeling to finally feel like I belong somewhere, to feel appreciated for what I do, and to be surrounded by people who understand and relate to me. ❤️

I always try to take something away from each session. Tonight, I asked one of our young people if they would sign my T-shirt for next weekend’s fundraiser. They kept saying no, so I stopped asking. A little while later, they picked up the pen themselves.

At first they joked about writing, “Youth Club sucks.” Instead, they wrote, “Youth Club is the best.” 🥹

That moment reminded me that these young people are learning just as much as we are. Sometimes they create resistance, but underneath it all they just want to feel heard, understood, accepted and safe. That’s exactly what we’ll continue trying to be for them.

Next weekend feels like such a full-circle moment. A year ago, I was sat in the Sports Bar asking people if they thought starting a youth club would even be a good idea. Next weekend I’ll be cycling 26 miles to help raise money for it alongside four other incredible local charities. 🚴🏻‍♀️💪🏼

To everyone who has supported us this year—whether you’ve volunteered, donated, shared a post, encouraged us, or simply believed in what we’re trying to build—thank you. It means more than you’ll ever know. 🫶🏼❤️

Happy Summer Holidays everyone! ☀️🌻

Now… roll on next weekend.

26 miles. Let’s gooooo! 🚴🏻‍♀️🔥🧡

🚴🏻‍♀️ GO HARD OR GO HOME 💪🏼🧡

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far to the Wymondham Sports Bar Charity Fundraiser. Every single donation means the world and is helping support five incredible charities, including my Youth Club. ❤️

I was originally going to cycle 13 miles, but I’ve decided to push myself a little harder… so I’m going to do it TWICE! 🚴🏻‍♀️🔥

That means I’ll be cycling 26 miles on 25th July. 💪🏼

If you’re able to sponsor me, even if it’s just £1, I’d be so grateful. Every pound makes a difference and goes towards some amazing causes in our community.

Thank you for all of the support so far. Let’s see if we can raise even more! ❤️🙌🏼
