Heritage Open Days at Waxham Great Barn...

One little note for this weekend:

Waxham Great Barn will be closed to visitors this weekend as we have a wedding taking place at the Barn. We’re delighted to be able to host the happy couple and their guests, but unfortunately this means the Barn won’t be open to the public.

WHAT A WONDERFUL THING HERITAGE OPEN DAYS IS!

We just wanted to take a moment to say a massive THANK YOU to Heritage Open Days for another fantastic year!

What an amazing initiative – opening the doors of historic places across the country and giving people the chance to explore, discover, ask questions and experience buildings and places that they might otherwise never get to see.

At Historic Norfolk, we absolutely LOVE being part of it.

Heritage Open Days give us the opportunity to share the stories behind our wonderful buildings, meet so many lovely visitors and, most importantly, help keep Norfolk’s incredible heritage alive, accessible and enjoyed by everyone.

So, to all the organisers, volunteers, hosts and everyone behind the scenes who makes Heritage Open Days happen…

HERITAGE OPEN DAYS AT WAXHAM GREAT BARN...

We hope you’ve been enjoying Heritage Open Days at Waxham Great Barn as much as we have! We’ve loved welcoming visitors, sharing the story of this incredible historic building and seeing so many people enjoying the Barn and its surroundings.

There’s still time to visit us! A member of the Historic Norfolk Trust will be at the Barn today, Thursday 17 September, from 11am–3pm, so do come along for a chat, ask any questions and discover a little more about Waxham’s fascinating history.

Please note that Waxham Great Barn will be closed to visitors over the weekend as we have a wedding taking place at the Barn. 💍🥂

We’re delighted that this wonderful historic building continues to be enjoyed in so many different ways – from sharing its history with visitors to providing a very special setting for couples celebrating their wedding day.

This September, Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust is delighted to be opening the doors of three very special historic properties as part of Heritage Open Days 2026.

From a magnificent 16th-century barn to beautiful historic chapels, this is a wonderful opportunity to step inside, explore, discover their stories and see these remarkable buildings for yourself.

🎻 A summer evening of music at beautiful Oulton Chapel ☀️

Just two weeks to go until the Cavick Quartet returns to Oulton Chapel for a special fundraising concert on Saturday 25 July, 7pm–9.30pm.

Oulton Chapel is one of north Norfolk’s hidden treasures — a beautiful and historic Grade II* listed chapel tucked away in the quiet countryside near Aylsham. It’s a wonderful setting for live music, and on a summer evening it’s also beautifully cool inside.

The programme includes Haydn’s “The Lark”, Nordic folk arrangements and Beethoven’s String Quartet Op.18 No.2, with all proceeds supporting the care and preservation of this remarkable chapel.
