Star Throwers Star Throwers provides an individually focused support service for cancer patients and their carers. Why the name Star Throwers?

Star Throwers is a cancer support charity based in Wymondham, Norfolk dedicated to helping people affected by cancer. We support individuals to make informed decisions about their treatment options, including alternative treatments, and help them search for clinical trials when appropriate. We also offer complementary therapies, counselling, nutritional advice and lymphoedema support to people wit

h cancer and their loved ones. All of our services are completely free of charge but this is only possible thanks to the support of individuals and organisations donating and fundraising to help us to deliver these services and continue to improve the wellbeing of those affected by cancer. It is based on the following short story:

"After a heavy storm, a boy walked along the beach throwing the stranded starfish back into the sea. A man watching shouted "there are too many of them - it won’t make any difference." As the boy threw another starfish back into the sea, he smiled and replied "it made a difference to that one!"

The session is a powerful, uplifting experience that blends gentle self‑care with practical guidance.

People affected by cancer often say:
“I don’t recognise myself anymore.”
“I’ve lost my sparkle.”
“I don’t know what suits me now.”

A colour confidence session gives them:
A sense of control
A moment of joy
A reminder that they are still vibrant, stylish, and whole

✨ We’re delighted to announce the completion of our newly refurbished Star Throwers Cancer Support Centre in Wymondham.

Thanks to incredible community support, we’ve transformed our space to meet growing demand for our services, creating two new clinical consultation rooms, improved accessibility, a new reception and kitchen area, additional office and storage space, and a more welcoming environment for everyone affected by cancer.

Alongside our new-look centre, we’ve also refreshed our branding. Over the next few weeks you will see us using our new look logo.

This project has only been possible thanks to the generosity of our funders, supporters, volunteers, staff and partners, including Morrisons Foundation Community Spaces Fund, Bernard Sunley Foundation, Alan Boswell Group, Dean Cooke Foundation, National Highways Community Fund, Wymondham Rotary Satellite Club, Devlin Developments, B Beales Developers Ltd, and The Pink Ribbon Foundation.

We’re also proud to have the continued support of PURE Recruitment, alongside new corporate partners Price Bailey, Savills , helping us continue delivering vital services for people affected by cancer.

A special thank you also goes to the corporate volunteers from Aviva, Savills and PURE Recruitment, who contributed 478.5 volunteer hours over 10 weeks to help bring the project to life.

💬 CEO Sam Brown said the refurbishment is “a powerful example of what our community can achieve when we come together.”

⛳ Thank You for Supporting Our Joint Charity Golf Day! ⛳

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make last Friday's joint golf day with Finnbars Force, such a fantastic success.

With glorious sunshine, great company, and some excellent golf, it was a day to remember. Congratulations to Team ECR on taking the winning title! 🏆

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of all those involved, we raised over £2,000, which will be shared between both charities to help continue our vital work supporting local people affected by cancer.

We're already looking ahead and planning our next golf day in 2027, with a date to be announced soon. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates!

We are delighted to announce a special upcoming wellbeing event exclusively for our Star Throwers service users who have been directly affected by cancer.

CONFIDENTLY YOU WELLBEING EVENING

📅 Wednesday 3rd June
🕓 4:00pm – 8:00pm

This special evening has been created specifically for people currently accessing Star Throwers services who have received a cancer diagnosis. Our evening will offer support, relaxation, and confidence-building during and after cancer treatment.

We all need a little self-care during difficult times. Our "Confidently You" wellbeing evening brings together therapies, expert advice, and pampering experiences in a supportive environment with others who understand the cancer journey.
