Star Throwers Star Throwers provides an individually focused support service for cancer patients and their carers. Why the name Star Throwers?

Star Throwers is a cancer support charity based in Wymondham, Norfolk dedicated to helping people affected by cancer. We support individuals to make informed decisions about their treatment options, including alternative treatments, and help them search for clinical trials when appropriate. We also offer complementary therapies, counselling, nutritional advice and lymphoedema support to people wit

h cancer and their loved ones. All of our services are completely free of charge but this is only possible thanks to the support of individuals and organisations donating and fundraising to help us to deliver these services and continue to improve the wellbeing of those affected by cancer. It is based on the following short story:

"After a heavy storm, a boy walked along the beach throwing the stranded starfish back into the sea. A man watching shouted "there are too many of them - it won’t make any difference." As the boy threw another starfish back into the sea, he smiled and replied "it made a difference to that one!"

🌸 Wymondham Garden Centre Summer Fayre – Saturday 29th August! 🌸

Looking for something to do this Saturday? The Wymondham Garden Centre Summer Fayre is taking place from 10am–4pm, with over 25 stallholders, unique gifts and homewares, delicious food and drink, and a charity raffle! 🌼🛍️

Our wonderful supporter and volunteer Jo will also be there with a stall full of her amazing handmade crafts and bags. 👜✨

Jo is incredibly generous and donates every penny she makes from the sale of her crafts to charity. We are so grateful that Star Throwers is one of the charities she chooses to support, alongside other very worthy local causes. 💙⭐

The event itself is also supporting a fantastic local cause, with all stallholder fees being donated to Wymondham Dementia Group.

As we head into September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’d like to give a huge shoutout to our friends at Finnbar's Force Force and the incredible support they provide to families affected by childhood cancer. 💛

Finnbar’s Force offers emotional, practical and financial support to families, as well as a safe and welcoming space called The Den. Open most weekdays, The Den offers Wednesday drop-in sessions where families can enjoy a cuppa and a chat, alongside holistic support including play therapy and family yoga, with counselling and massage available for adults.

They are also getting ready for their fantastic Family Adventure Day 2026, taking place at Eaton Vale Activity Centre on Sunday 6 September 2026. With high ropes, archery, canoeing, forest school, inflatables and lots more for all ages, it promises to be a brilliant family day out. Tickets are on sale now!

We’re also very proud to work alongside Finnbar’s Force each year to host our joint Charity Golf Day, raising vital funds to support the work of both charities. Our next Golf Day will take place on Friday 21 May 2027 – so save the date! ⛳

🌿 A huge thank you to the Lady Hind Trust! 🌿

We are incredibly grateful to the Lady Hind Trust for their generous donation of £2,000 towards our Garden Retreat Project at Star Throwers. 💙

Our garden is an important extension of our cancer support centre, providing a peaceful and welcoming outdoor space where people affected by cancer can take a moment, connect with others and enjoy some much-needed calm.

This wonderful donation takes us another step closer to creating the Garden Retreat we envision, but we still need further funding and support to bring the project to life.

🌼 We’ll be at the Baysfield Gardens Grand Opening tomorrow! 🌼

We’re delighted to be joining Baysfield Gardens Care Home in Wymondham for their Grand Opening Garden Party tomorrow, Saturday 22nd August, from 11am–3pm.

A huge thank you to the team at Baysfield Gardens for choosing to support Star Throwers as part of their special opening event. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to celebrating with them. 🧡

Our wonderful supporter and volunteer Jo will also be there selling her lovely handmade craft items, with proceeds in aid of Star Throwers – so make sure you pop by and take a look! 🧶🧡

There’s lots happening throughout the day, including live music, pony parties, face painting, seated Zumba and an ice cream van.

☀️ A HUGE THANK YOU TO AVIVA! ☀️

We are delighted to share that our Star Throwers Sun Energy Project has received an incredible £6,080 in funding through the Aviva Communities Fund. 💙🧡

A huge THANK YOU to Aviva and everyone who supported our campaign. This funding is a wonderful contribution towards the overall cost of our Sun Energy Project and brings us another step closer to making it a reality.

Our aim is to install solar panels and battery storage at our Wymondham cancer support centre, helping us reduce our energy costs and carbon footprint while making our centre more resilient during power outages.

Reducing our running costs means more of the money we raise can go directly towards providing our free cancer support services for local people and their families. ☀️🌱

We still have further funds to raise to complete the project, so if your business, community group, trust or organisation would be interested in helping us fund the remaining costs, we would love to hear from you.

A huge thank you to the fantastic Aviva volunteers who spent the day with us yesterday helping to spruce up our outside space! 🌿💙

The team worked hard painting our fencing and garden furniture, making our garden look fresh and welcoming again. Our garden is enjoyed by so many of the people who visit Star Throwers, so their hard work will make a real difference.
