This Wednesday, we'll be working at Perry Wood, mainly on the footpaths so we don't disturb the beautiful bluebells.

We will be cutting back the holly and removing some of the ivy weight from mature trees. Ivy is a fantastic habitat and, contrary to myth, is not parasitic on trees and doesn't strangle them. However, when trees are along footpaths the ivy can mask developing bark issues which might impact on safety.

A huge thank you to for joining us at Perdiswell today. We weeded and mulched loads of the young trees to give them the best shot at a successful growing season.

The whips we planted closer together do seem to be faring better than the standard planting and, interestingly, it seems to be the beech and oak which have the highest failure rate. The hawthorn, hazel, rose and many others are thriving!

Today, we helped out at Lansdowne Allotments, creating a lovely dead hedge and installing a new pond. Thank you to the plot holders for the cake!

We saw absolutely loads of slow worms! Allotments and gardens really can be great for wildlife
