Dear All,

An empty food caddy has blown onto the A4095 in the bend by Park View. If it’s yours, please could you - carefully - claim it.

Many thanks,

Bladon PC

Flood Wardens - volunteering opportunity

Do you want to help your local community?

Dear All,

A recent post asserted that Bladon PC uses Roundup w**d killer. It is incorrect.

We are seeking the source of this information.
For clarity, the PC’s contractor uses non-Glyphosate total w**d killer and for the playground, pulls large w**ds by hand and sprays any emerging growth with white vinegar.

The Churchyard beside the school is not the PC’s responsibility, so we do not know what happens there.

For future reference, if anyone ever has questions or concerns about the parish council or the things we do, you can email us: [email protected]

We are a friendly PC and always try to respond quickly. 🙂

Dear All,

We have recently received messages from the community regarding parking issues around the pub and on Park Close. This will be included on the agenda for our next PC meeting on the 12th March. Please note that the Parish Council does not meet every month.

This seems like a good opportunity to remind everyone that the role of a parish councillor is a voluntary one, and that all parish councillors give their time freely for the aid of the community. Currently, three of our five councillors work. We all have family and other commitments.

We have had a vacancy on the council for months and would welcome anyone who wanted to get involved, whether from a parking perspective, or if simply to help with projects like enhancing the play areas. If you think you could contribute, please email Karen: [email protected].

Many thanks,

Bladon PC

Dear All,

Bladon PC wishes to express our deepest sympathies at learning of the death of Ian Hudspeth.

Ian was a much-loved member of the local community, generous with his time long after his time on the parish council. He will be missed by all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Carolyn and Chloe at this time.

Calling all mid-to-late teens who might be looking for a bit of volunteering work to put on their CV. Also calling anyone else who might be able to help.

It is the Remembrance Service at the War Memorial this Sunday. The Parish Council is looking for volunteers to wear official PC fluorescent bibs and hold traffic for a short time.

Please comment here if you can help or turn up at the War Memorial on Park Street on Sunday at 10:50. We won’t need more than 20 minutes of your time.

Many thanks,

Bladon PC

Dear All,

West Oxfordshire is growing, and we all have a say in how that happens.

West Oxfordshire District Council's Preferred Spatial Options Consultation is open until 22 December 2025 and sets out potential locations for new homes, jobs, green spaces and infrastructure.

Remember - these are not final decisions; they are proposals shaped by evidence and earlier public feedback. Your views will help decide what goes into the draft Local Plan next year.
